Background / History

Monster Demons are a recurring threat on Blue Star. Early rumors link them to student disappearances, and Molly soon encounters a Tentacle Monster holding a captive in the city 1 2. Later encounters range from creatures in miasma-filled strongholds to monsters capable of passing unnoticed among humans 7 21 149.

Miasma seeps from the Demon Realm. It can pollute the environment, disrupt magical power, and mutate heavily exposed humans into mindless monsters 26. Demon Gods are described as creatures vastly more powerful than ordinary Monster Demons, although whether they are true gods is uncertain 26.

Abilities & Skills

Miasma and mutation

• Monster Demons and their shards can carry miasma. Excessive exposure can mutate ordinary people and weaken magical girls by disrupting their magic 26.
• Some attacks spread corruption beyond their immediate target: the Hypnosis God’s avatar causes grotesque mutations in civilians who look at it 96.

Disguise and infiltration

• Wu Liu, an Anthropomorphic Fox Monster Demon, conceals his fox-like form and impersonates humans after consuming their memories 149 150.
• The Mimic Demon can copy Magical Girl Pale’s appearance and voice, an ability used in a plot to frame her for a catastrophe 39 49.

Parasitism

• The purported Undying Elixir implants Parasitic Monster Demon eggs. The parasite extends its host’s lifespan while placing the host under the Undying Arena’s control 134 158.

Remains and Combat

• Some defeated Monster Demons drop Monster Demon Shards. The shards contain usable magical power contaminated by miasma and must be purified before absorption 26.
• Drops are not guaranteed: Molly finds nothing on a Three-Headed Hound, and observes roughly one shard per three ordinary Zombie Demons defeated 7 23.
• Molly’s Broken Sword automatically purifies and absorbs shards, increasing her Holy Judgment proficiency; absorbed shards can also replenish her energy and help repair wounds 21 26 61.
• Monster Demons can drop other items. A defeated Zombie Brute Demon yields the Cyan Radiance Ring instead of a shard 22.

Notable Exceptions

• Monster Demon nature does not determine an individual’s conduct. Moyan is transformed against her will but refuses to drain innocent people’s vital essence 11 18.
• Moyan later commands plant Monster Demons to damage a school wall and draw out magical girls while deliberately preventing casualties 66.
