Ch. 141The Second Undying Arena
Plot and key events
- After returning from her sister Moyan’s room, Molly lies awake, troubled by Moyan’s refusal to reveal whom she loves and by the accusations against Magical Girl Pale and the danger of the Undying Arena.
- Moyan comes to Molly’s locked bedroom late at night. Molly pretends to be asleep to protect her secret identity. Moyan enters with a key, lies beside her, and Molly eventually falls asleep after noticing a faint, unusual fragrance.
- In the morning, Molly wakes exhausted and confused. Moyan is gone, and the bed appears to have been freshly changed, though Molly cannot work out why. Moyan, by contrast, looks unusually energetic and well.
- The Undying Arena hijacks screens worldwide. Its Clown host angrily condemns Magical Girl Pale for killing the previous champion, then announces a new prize: the Evolution Fruit, which supposedly gives an ordinary person power comparable to a demigod.
- The promised power drives the public into a frenzy, and people eagerly anticipate the new Arena. Molly realizes the threat will intensify.
Character developments and interactions
- Molly is anxious and suspicious, struggling to protect her identity while worrying about her sister and the growing Arena crisis. Her exhaustion and unanswered questions about the night deepen her unease.
- Moyan remains gentle and composed, but her nighttime visit, access to Molly’s room, the strange fragrance, and her unexplained morning vitality suggest something unusual. She and Molly share a quiet, intimate night, though Molly is unaware of what may have happened.
- The Clown shifts from playful showman to openly indignant antagonist, using Pale’s actions to stir fear and rivalry.
- Molly and Moyan speak little directly: Moyan checks whether Molly is asleep and chooses to lie beside her; the next morning, they exchange a brief greeting and breakfast quietly.
Significant themes
- Secrecy and suspicion: Molly’s hidden identity shapes her behavior, while Moyan’s unexplained actions raise questions about what she knows or intends.
- Power and temptation: The Evolution Fruit’s promise of demigod-level strength overwhelms public fear and encourages people to enter a deadly contest.
- Escalating conflict: The Arena’s response to Pale turns her resistance into a public provocation and threatens to intensify the coming violence.
