Searching Memories

Danzo sneered. "You think a few words from ordinary ninja are enough to strip a senior official of his position? Konoha would become a laughingstock."

"Hmph. Konoha's Intelligence Department can search memories. These bodies contain memories of your attempt to assassinate me. These four mutilated ninja were caught in the explosion during Root's second attack, but their memories can still be searched.

Elder Ito's words struck a chord with the other Elders. Danzo merely sneered inwardly.

The Third Hokage glanced at Danzo. Seeing how calm he was, he suspected the ninja believed to be from Root had no memories left to search. Danzo was too calculating not to have taken precautions.

Those ninja had probably been marked with a Formula before the operation, one that would destroy the memories in their brains the moment they died.

He looked at the clamoring Elders. Without a Memory Search, the matter would not be settled.

The Third Hokage cleared his throat. "Take the bodies to the Intelligence Department. Tell the Yamanaka Clan Head to bring the clan's best people there."

"Yes."

Two squads of ninja carried the bodies out, while Moriya and Kyosuke helped their injured teammates outside.

Danzo's eyes flickered as he followed the Third Hokage toward the Intelligence Department. The Elders Council stayed close behind him, watching his every move. If Danzo tried anything, the Elders would likely strike at once.
