Power Progression

The clan’s growth is collective: Sharingan stages belong to individual members, while its size and military strength change over time.

Background and History

The Uchiha helped found Konoha and inherited the Sharingan. After Madara Uchiha left the village and fought Hashirama, the clan’s standing declined. Konoha’s leadership relocated it to a separate district and assigned it the Security Force, a role that brought public service but also isolation from village power 1 6 438.

Shinobi World Wars depleted the clan. Before the First War, it had more than 2,000 members and nearly 700 shinobi; almost half of those shinobi died in that conflict. Further losses left its leaders concerned that new graduates could not replace those killed in battle 64 234.

Under Tenjo and then Fugaku, the clan invested in training, Sharingan development and political influence. Fugaku’s reforms strengthened its Security Force and younger generation, while the High Birthrate Plan aimed to rebuild its population over ten years. The clan later established a settlement on the moon and expanded its territory beyond the solar system 146 423 561 784 837.

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan

The Uchiha’s inherited dōjutsu develops through One-, Two- and Three-Tomoe stages, with the Mangekyō Sharingan and Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan beyond them 42 58.

• Sharingan users can read movements in combat and apply genjutsu; clan members differ in whether they excel at genjutsu, ninjutsu or close combat 147 649.
• Mangekyō abilities vary by individual. Recorded powers include Amaterasu, spatial movement, enhanced speed, Genjutsu Space and Kotoamatsukami 658.
• Susanoo is available to Mangekyō users, but its use can severely drain chakra, stamina and ocular power 58.
• Sharingan evolution amplifies emotions. Fugaku warns that granting Mangekyō power without regard for a person’s character could endanger the clan 507 619.

Ninjutsu and interrogation

• The clan preserves its own Fire Release techniques and other ninjutsu in restricted collections 35 75.
• Its Sharingan and genjutsu make Security Force members effective interrogators; they rapidly extract information from captured Cloud shinobi 472.

Organization and Reforms

• Security Force — Fugaku proposes six specialized departments: Patrol, Interrogation, Intelligence, Logistics, Combat and Household Registration. Veterans would mentor new graduates to reduce casualties 561.
• Clan training program — Jonin coach Chunin and Genin every two weeks, with assessments every three months to identify strengths beyond Sharingan aptitude 146.
• Assassination Squad — a covert unit led by Jin, formed to remove threats to the clan while its members maintain ordinary Security Force duties 242 243.
• High Birthrate Plan — provides family support and a clan kindergarten; its ten-year target is 5,000 members, including at least 1,000 ninja 423.
• Lunar settlement — the first 400 migrants receive homes, and a Ninja Academy is prepared. Further migration is approved to ease crowding in the Uchiha District 784.
• Off-world territory — Fugaku later announces an Ōtsutsuki branch-family domain encompassing the solar system and two neighboring star systems, then moves clan members to another inhabited planet 837 839.

Relationships

• Konoha — the Uchiha are a founding clan and contribute shinobi and security services, but successive village leaders distrust their growing independence and power 1 146 472.
• Hyūga clan — long-standing rivals for the position of Konoha’s foremost clan, owing partly to their respective ocular bloodlines 42 454.
• Senju and Uzumaki clans — distant relatives descended, like the Uchiha, from the Sage of Six Paths 528.
• Ōtsutsuki clan — the Uchiha trace their line to Indra Ōtsutsuki; their later expansion brings them into direct contact and conflict with other Ōtsutsuki 805 837.
