"So it was Might Guy," Fugaku said.
Obito looked surprised. "You know him, Clan Head?"
One was the Uchiha Clan Leader. The other was a student who had yet to graduate from the Ninja Academy.
Fugaku nodded. "I've kept an eye on him. Might Duy is Might Guy's father, and he's spent decades honing his Taijutsu.
"He may not be well known in Konoha, but in Taijutsu alone, he ranks among its best. Might Guy trains hard with his father every day.
"Among the students in your year who aren't from the clan, the only ones I have high hopes for are Kakashi and Might Guy. A few others have talent, but their potential is limited.
"Jonin is as far as they'll go."
Obito was stunned. The Clan Head's standards were famously high, and not just within the clan. Even outsiders talked about it.
Kakashi was Hatake Sakumo's son and the top student at the Ninja Academy. That made sense. He had a formidable father pushing him to practice Swordsmanship every day.
But Might Guy had caught the Clan Head's eye too? Obito could hardly believe it.
"What, you don't believe me? A ninja's life can be long or short, and yours has only just begun.
"An early lead means little. Countless ninja find their stride later and even rise far beyond those who started ahead of them.
"You've heard of Jiraiya, the Great Toad Sage, haven't you? When Jiraiya graduated from the Ninja Academy, he was the Dead Last of his year.
"Now there are only a handful of ninja in all of Konoha who could confidently say they'd beat him. If you keep working hard, there's no reason you can't overtake those ahead of you."
Obito nodded. "I understand, Clan Head. I'll become a ninja who surpasses them
