Orochimaru was still turning over Fugaku's words as he left the Hokage Building and headed out of the village.

There had been so much to take in, some of it beyond what he could accept. He needed time to process it.

Walking through the forest, Fugaku took out a map. A recently opened mine lay near the border of the Land of Fire.

That was his destination. Beneath the mine lay ruins left by the Otsutsuki clan, where large numbers of White Zetsu were still being made.

Sasuke would discover the ruins after Naruto became Hokage.

Fugaku closed the scroll and leaped into the trees, speeding through the forest. By the next morning, he had reached the border of the Land of Fire, near the Land of Rivers.

The site was also close to the Land of Rain, but far from Kikyō Mountain, where Konoha and Sunagakure had once fought.

The mine was active. It looked nothing like it would decades later, which made finding the ruins Kaguya Ōtsutsuki had left behind more troublesome.

Fugaku bit his finger and formed hand seals.

"Summoning Technique."

A huge pangolin appeared before him, its body gleaming black. It had changed completely. The scales along its sides glinted coldly and looked razor-sharp.

Even crouched on the ground, it reached Fugaku's shoulder. It rubbed its head against him and made a stream of noises, expressing how much it had missed him.

Fugaku stroked the pangolin's head and sent it underground to search for the hidden Otsutsuki ruins.

As his Summoning Beast, the pangolin quickly understood. One sweep of its enormous foreclaws sent soil and gravel flying.

After just a few strokes, its massive body vanished beneath the ground.

Fugaku leaned against a tree and waited. White Zetsu made the best Test Subjects for Impure World
