Geography and Economy

• The Land of Fire lies near the center of the Shinobi World. Its springlike climate, fertile soil and abundant resources make its territory attractive to other great nations 91 96 109.
• Its capital is a major center of trade and commerce; merchant caravans pass through it to transfer goods from across the world 301.
• Konoha relies heavily on the capital for funding, food and wartime supplies. Years of war deplete national reserves and contribute to rising grain prices 302 305 308.

Government and Konoha

The capital and Konoha do not always agree on how wars should be fought or funded. During the Land of the Moon conflict, ministers question Konoha's strategy and warn that the country needs time to restore its reserves. The Third Hokage visits the Daimyo personally when rumors threaten relations between the village and capital 307 308.

Wars and Security

• Repeated invasion threats: The Land of Wind and Land of Earth covet the Land of Fire's fertile territory. Their allied campaign in the Land of Rain threatens to break through Konoha's defenses and enter the country 160 184 185.
• Attack on Konoha: A Wind–Earth assault using Tailed Beasts devastates the village. Konoha's commanders subsequently treat the fighting as a struggle for the Land of Fire's survival 166 167.
• Border patrols: After disappearances within the country draw pressure from the Daimyo, Konoha expands patrols across the Land of Fire and establishes small outposts staffed by ninja squads 412.
• Continuing infiltration: Cloud and Mist shinobi attempt to enter the country during later fighting. Konoha reinforces border patrols, though the length of the border makes it difficult to seal completely 678 679.

Treaties and Reparations

Treaty income supports Konoha's expansion and training. After the later victories, the capital increases its funding allocations to the village 640 715 717.
