"Triple Overwrite?"
The unfamiliar term gave Yu Yuan pause.
It was easy enough to grasp the basic idea: three layers stacked together. But Yu Yuan knew it couldn't be that simple.
Mona continued.
"That's right, Triple Overwrite. Ritual arrays may belong to the mystical arts, but they're still a precise, systematic body of knowledge. An array allows us to interact with, communicate with, and harness Spiritual Energy.
"And because that interaction is invisible and intangible, it's all the more delicate. The slightest error in a circuit can change an array's meaning entirely."
"That's why single-purpose arrays and sacrificial arrays are the simplest. They have only one goal: exchange. More complex arrays are Composite Ritual Arrays, which combine multiple functions. They're the most common type in use today."
Mona paused to think before continuing.
"For example, the array we used for the Bloodline Tracing Ritual was a Composite Ritual Array. It could trace, lock onto, summon, restrain, and protect. Drawing it was already extremely difficult."
"Beyond Composite Ritual Arrays are Double Overwriting and Triple Overwrite arrays, along with a few other special techniques. Many of those techniques have been lost. Fortunately, the Dark Sage's legacy contains some memories of them, though only fragments. I'm nowhere near strong enough to set one up."
Yu Yuan was shaken.
Mona was already close to the peak of Silver Tier, yet even she couldn't do it.
"Are those two types of overwriting that difficult?"
"Extremely! According to the inherited memories, even after I advance to Gold Tier, I'll only qualify to begin learning Double Overwriting. Mastering it will take far more time and effort—and that's with my Dark Sage talent. Triple Overwrite is another matter entirely."
Mona's point was clear.
Whoever had set up the array across this continent was probably Transdimensional Tier at the
