Ch. 841Fierce battle with the Blood Clan Progenitor Gulrad, Dawnlight
Plot and key events
- Gulrad discovers that Moonshadow Breath’s Spiritual Mark has vanished from the Bloodline River. He concludes she is either dead or has transferred her mark to another river—most likely Adlan’s—but cannot explain her apparent connection to Greenfield or Yu Yuan.
- Fighting erupts outside the Ancient Castle. Hogg, a Gold-Tier werewolf with a mysterious connection to the Bloodline River, tears through Gulrad’s Silver-Tier guards.
- Gulrad attacks Hogg, recognizing his extraordinary strength and deciding he must be killed. He blocks Hogg’s explosive, lightning-charged attack with his wings and grabs him.
- Hogg reveals the capture was a trap: he clings to Gulrad while Dawnlight launches a searing beam and golden-sword strike.
- Gulrad’s inner voices mock him for falling into an ambush and question his control of the body. He unleashes his Transdimensional power, taking the form of a vast scarlet bat whose cry makes Hogg’s blood burn and rise as vapor.
- Dawnlight counters with the words, “No night can turn away the morning light!” The chapter ends as dawn breaks.
Character developments
- Gulrad is increasingly enraged and suspicious. His confusion over Moonshadow Breath’s disappearance deepens, and his confidence turns to alarm when Hogg and Dawnlight catch him in an ambush. The voices within him suggest that his control of his body is contested.
- Hogg demonstrates formidable power, tactical cunning, and a reckless willingness to serve as bait. His laughter also manifests as a frightening ability that forces nearby vampires to laugh uncontrollably.
- Dawnlight emerges as the ambush’s decisive second attacker, confronting Gulrad with a powerful, light-based strike.
Character interactions and themes
- Gulrad’s uncertainty about Moonshadow Breath, Adlan, Greenfield, and Yu Yuan establishes an unresolved web of alliances and betrayals.
- Hogg’s direct confrontation with Gulrad becomes a coordinated attack with Dawnlight: Hogg draws Gulrad in and holds him while Dawnlight strikes.
- The chapter emphasizes deception and teamwork, as Hogg’s apparent vulnerability conceals the ambush; power and vulnerability, as even Gulrad faces both an external attack and internal dissent; and light versus darkness, embodied by Dawnlight’s answer to Gulrad’s blood-red, sky-darkening power.
