Background and History

Dai travels from the Star Luo Empire to apply to Shrek Academy. His White Tiger Martial Soul and surname lead Flender to suspect that he is a prince. Dai has fled a family conflict: he must eventually face his older brother in a contest whose loser may be killed, exiled, or stripped of Soul Power 26 37.

His entrance test requires him to withstand Jodio Joestar for ten minutes. Jodio overwhelms him and accuses him of abandoning both his group and his fiancée. Dai initially resents the judgment, but stands up again despite his injuries. When he stops fearing defeat and forces Jodio to reveal another ability, Jodio passes him 27 28 30.

After joining Shrek, Dai learns about Jodio’s organization, Passione. Jodio presses him to choose a purpose beyond escaping his family’s conflict. Dai resolves to protect his family, wife, friends, and brothers from suffering, and asks Jodio to guide him. He later intervenes when a Soul Master is accused of beating a restaurant owner, insisting on hearing what happened rather than accepting excuses or appeals to status 31 33 39.

Dai eventually identifies his chosen path as becoming an emperor. Three years later, he remains at Shrek and spars with Oscar as a level-39 Soul Elder 41 42.

Appearance

Dai is a blond, sturdy-built boy. At twelve, he is shorter than Jodio, who stands about 1.6 meters tall 26 27 49.

Personality

Dai arrives proud of his talent and rank, and Ma Hongjun’s taunts quickly irritate him. Jodio’s defeat leaves him defensive and ashamed, but he recovers enough resolve to fight back. He later seeks Jodio’s advice while retaining his own judgment, notably questioning Jodio’s decision to kill Tong Bei 26 28 33 34 36.

His conduct can be severe. As a Passione officer, he uses intimidation and a staged departure to test Tang San’s denial that he knows who injured a member. He then threatens Tang San and Xiao Wu while demanding an apology and medical expenses 49 50.

Abilities and Skills

White Tiger Martial Soul

An assault-type Martial Soul that greatly increases Dai’s attack power and defense. Its strengths favor direct confrontation, while limited speed and endurance leave him vulnerable to agility- and control-based tactics 26.

• White Tiger Vajra Barrier — his first soul skill increases attack power, defense, and strength by 50% 26 27.
• White Tiger Fierce Light Wave — his second soul skill fires a powerful ranged attack with a maximum range of about thirteen meters 26 27.
• White Tiger Vajra Transformation — his third soul skill enlarges his body to more than twice its size and doubles his skill, strength, and defense 42.

Close-Quarters Combat

• Breaks through Tang San’s guard with a punch and blocks Xiao Wu’s kick during their confrontation 50.
• Uses White Tiger Vajra Barrier to seize and restrain Kaidu while questioning him about an injured restaurant owner 39.

Relationships
