Background and History

Lin Qing crosses over from Azure Planet into the Great Yuan Dynasty and spends his first three months grinding bones in the Soul-Calming Office’s Artisans’ Office. Bloodline Disease gives him an urgent reason to become a martial artist: Evil Spirits are spreading toward his heart, while poverty prevents him from seeking treatment in the prefectural city. He pursues corpse collection because burning the dead lets him use the Rebirth Record to acquire their abilities 1.

He passes the county selection, joins the Corpse Collection Team, and becomes Yang Feng’s disciple. His rapid progress brings support from Shen Lian and Yang Feng, but also draws him into conflicts with Jiang Baihe, Pang Tong, and the Han Family. After passing the county Reexamination, he earns a Gold Token and later a special-class constable post in the Prefectural City Soul-Calming Office 20 21 49 89.

In the prefectural city, Lin Qing defeats Luo Tai to secure his post, becomes a Constable Chief, and is appointed Chief Candidate after the Blood Calamity. He subsequently wins the office-chief contest by defeating Lei Tong, then takes charge of the Netherworld Pacification Bureau 89 115 126 140 141.

Personality

Lin Qing is disciplined but unwilling to mistake effort for a complete solution: he trains daily while seeking food, medicine, better arts, and combat experience when practice alone is insufficient. He often conceals his full capabilities and investigates threats before acting 6 7 25 53 84.

Protecting his family is a recurring priority. He treats his father’s leg pain, gives his parents money, moves them somewhere guarded during unrest, and reacts decisively when officials destroy their shop. He rejects offers from the Han Family and Yinyuan Sect rather than exchange his independence for resources 9 20 31 53 46 152.

Lin Qing tells Yun Tianxing that he trains to protect himself and his loved ones, and eventually to help ordinary people. He continues to value strength over titles or public praise even as his rank rises 51 89 126.

Rebirth Record

Lin Qing’s hidden Rebirth Record lets him guide departed souls to rebirth—often by cremating their bodies—view abilities they possessed in life, and copy one. It also reveals fragments of their memories 1 5 20.

• Equipment: At its first tier, it has one slot that Lin Qing can change once per day. By the third tier, it has three slots, a four-hour replacement interval, and the ability to gather partial information about corpses within fifty paces 1 3 46.
• Progression: Delivering souls increases its progress; gold, silver, and rare materials can accelerate upgrades 1.
• Lasting gains: Equipped technique knowledge can disappear when an art is removed, but transformations produced by mastered cultivation methods—including physical gains and force—remain 31 100.

• Eight Strikes of the Spirit Snake: His foundational fist art. Its perfected form produces Spirit Snake Force, which improves flexibility and allows difficult attacking postures; his Transcendent version adds five moves 43 46.
