"Hahaha! Well done, Yu!" Golden Crocodile Douluo beamed. "That Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon martial soul is full of surprises."
"Making Hu Liena suffer a backlash from her own Fox Charm was unexpected."
Surprise flashed across Qian Daoliu's face as well.
Simply resisting Fox Charm would have been one thing. Turning it back on her was another matter entirely.
"Yu won this fight!"
Golden Crocodile Douluo was thrilled, his face brimming with pride.
His disciple had beaten Bibi Dong's disciple. By extension, the Worship Hall had beaten the Papal Hall. The former still stood above the latter.
"It's time," Qian Daoliu said with a nod. "Send word to convene the Elder Council. We'll name Qin Yu the Holy Son of Spirit Hall."
"Mm."
Golden Crocodile Douluo nodded, pride spreading across his face.
Over the past six months, Qin Yu had done more than satisfy him. He had exceeded every expectation.
With a disciple like that, he could wake up laughing every morning.
"Second Soul Skill: Purple Brilliant Dragon Fist!"
In the square, Qin Yu's second Soul Ring lit up. A terrifying aura surged from him, fierce beyond measure.
His dragon claws barely changed, but his attack, defense, and speed soared again, each increasing twofold.
Purple Brilliant Dragon Fist strengthened him much like his first Soul Skill, only more powerfully. The sole difference was that his fists now carried the Shatter attribute.
Once he activated the skill, his Bloodline Power also surged.
Over the past six months, Golden Crocodile Douluo had taught Qin Yu well. He had learned many ways to use Bloodline Power, along with a host of techniques for channeling force.
Combining Bloodline Power with a Soul Skill was one of them.
Boom!
Qin Yu threw a punch, and the air cracked.
Its force was terrifying. Even a defense-type Soul Ancestor who took it head-on would be severely injured and cough up blood.
"!!!"
Hu Liena went pale at the sight of the fist coming straight at her.
She was only a level-thirty-three Soul Elder, and the backlash from Fox Charm had left her weak.
If that punch landed, she would die.
As the fist bore down on her, Hu Liena closed her eyes.
But the expected pain never came. A gust from the punch swept over her face instead, blowing her hair back.
Hu Liena opened her eyes. Qin Yu's dragon claw was clenched into a fist, motionless before her face. It had stopped just short of striking her.
"You lost, senior."
Qin Yu smiled, withdrew his fist, and released his Martial Soul Possession.
Though his aura had faded, the instinctive pressure of his Bloodline Power remained. Hu Liena's heart still raced.
Seeing Qin Yu grinning at her, Hu Liena flared up. "Qin Yu, you're awful!"
She withdrew her martial soul as well, and the tension left her body.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Qin Yu gave Hu Liena a sidelong look. "Senior, this was a battle between Soul Masters. Isn't it normal to give it your all?"
"Besides, if I remember right, you were the one who asked for this match."
"And I stopped in time."
"Hmph. You're awful anyway." Hu Liena huffed. She had no intention of arguing; she knew she couldn't win against Qin Yu.
"Then maybe I should've gone through with that punch." Qin Yu chuckled.
Hu Liena's eyes widened in disbelief. "Y-you said what?"
Qin Yu only smiled. He raised his right hand and mimed punching her in the face.
"Qin Yu, you... you little bastard!"
Hu Liena was furious.
She never imagined Qin Yu would say something so "cruel."
Not only did he have no tenderness toward her, he was ready to punch her in the face!
Qin Yu chuckled at her angry expression. "Don't be mad, senior. I was joking."
"That wasn't funny at all."
Hu Liena glared at Qin Yu, still fuming.
Qin Yu shook his head with a helpless smile, then changed the subject. "Senior, did the Fox Charm backlash hurt you?"
"So you do have a heart. You actually thought to ask how I'm doing."
Hu Liena muttered the words, but her anger gradually faded. "It's nothing serious. I just need a few days' rest."
"But Qin Yu, how did you do it?"
"I don't think Fox Charm rebounded because your Spiritual Power was stronger than mine. It felt like some other force..."
Qin Yu cut her off at once. "It was the destructive attribute of my Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon martial soul. I've found new ways to understand and use it these past few days."
"Is that so..." Hu Liena thought it over. The destructive presence she had sensed felt different from the Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon.
It had seemed... even more powerful than the Purple Brilliant Heaven Destroying Dragon!
Had she really sensed it wrong?
"You should go back and rest, senior," Qin Yu said with a smile. Then he changed the subject. "I'm going to browse the Library Pavilion."
"All right. I'll come see you in a few days." Hu Liena nodded.
She had wanted to go to the Library Pavilion with Qin Yu, but the Fox Charm backlash had drained her energy. She needed rest.
"Mm."
Qin Yu nodded.
Hu Liena left.
Qin Yu watched her go, his eyes flickering. Then he turned and walked the other way.
Good. I think she bought it.
Qin Yu quietly let out a breath of relief, then felt a flicker of delight. And that was an unexpected bonus from testing the Heavenly Saint Rift-Splitting Halberd.
When Hu Liena had used Fox Charm on him, he had tried leaving himself undefended and letting it invade, just to see whether the Heavenly Saint Rift-Splitting Halberd would react.
Even if it did nothing, the risk was negligible.
Hu Liena's Fox Charm could control him for a few seconds at most.
And with her strength, a few seconds would not be enough to do anything to him.
But the Heavenly Saint Rift-Splitting Halberd had reacted!
Whenever a mental attack invaded his sea of consciousness, the Heavenly Saint Rift-Splitting Halberd would automatically protect him and crush the invading Spiritual Power.
The discovery delighted Qin Yu.
Given the power of the Heavenly Saint Rift-Splitting Halberd, even an ordinary Deity could not harm his soul. What chance did the continent's mental-type Soul Masters have?
This trump card makes me immune to over ninety percent of mental attacks on Douluo Continent. Not bad at all.
On his way to the Library Pavilion, Qin Yu felt a surge of pleasure. He was in high spirits.
Then he composed himself and turned to the day's task.
For the past six months, he had spent five days a week cultivating, one day learning to handle political affairs, and the remaining day resting as he pleased.
In practice, Qin Yu rarely rested. He spent most of that time in the Library Pavilion.
Spirit Hall's Library Pavilion held the most detailed and extensive collection of knowledge on the entire continent. Learning more could only help.
His only regret was that he had found no ancient texts concerning Immortal Herbs.
After traveling to this world, it would be a shame not to thoroughly scour the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
