Background

Lin Ye arrives in Douluo Continent and takes over a failing shop in Heaven Dou City. Its system requires him to recruit an attendant within twenty-four hours before he can unlock a game. When Ning Rongrong enters looking for a place to hide from her sect’s elders, he offers her a trial attendant contract instead. Her signature completes the mission, and the system installs Cyberpunk 2077 on the café’s terminals 1.

He later offers the wounded Zhu Zhuqing a cashier position to work off her medical bill. Once she signs, Origin reaches Lv. 2 and begins selling noodles and cola with restorative effects 6 7 8. As the café draws more visitors, Lin Ye announces the Night City Mercenary Grand Prix: its champion may bring one common-grade weapon or piece of cyberware they own in the game into the real world 22.

Personality

Lin Ye is quick to turn a visitor’s needs into a business opportunity. He uses Ning Rongrong’s need for shelter to recruit an attendant and offers Zhu Zhuqing a job after treating her wounds. He also teases players about their setbacks while coaching them through unfamiliar game mechanics 1 3 6 7.

He applies the café’s rules even when customers offer more money or hold high status. He refuses extra playtime and takeout sales, and permanently bans Tang San and Dai Mubai after they attack him. As owner, however, he exempts himself from the six-hour gaming limit 5 8 12 15 21.

Café system and defenses

• The café’s Absolute Defense Field suppresses hostile visitors’ Soul Power and martial souls and neutralizes attacks. Lin Ye relies on it when assassins, Chen Xin, Dai Mubai, and Tang San attack the shop 6 20 23.
• Lin Ye can enforce system-backed penalties, including the permanent service ban imposed on Tang San and Dai Mubai 21.
• These defenses are properties of the café; the chapters do not establish a personal cultivation rank for Lin Ye 6 8 20.

Game knowledge

• Lin Ye explains Night City’s lack of Soul Power, teaches Ning Rongrong how to use a pistol, and introduces her to cyberware 3 4.
