Feng Ling had been frightened, so she killed all the Parasite Humans in the industrial park.

Corpse fragments littered the ground, yet the scene was not especially bloody.

That was because the Parasite Humans bled very little. The limbs severed by the Bone Blade seeped transparent fluid, much like the juice that flowed from a cut aloe leaf.

In the past, the Human-faced Crows would have already swarmed over them, but now they kept their distance, perching on the wire fences far away and watching Feng Ling deal with the remains.

"Third Child didn't absorb the Parasite Humans' flesh and blood, so I'm afraid you can't either," Ye Zheng reminded Feng Ling.

Having spent so much time with Feng Ling, Ye Zheng knew that Mother Nest Creations' abilities fell into two categories. One came from Card traits, while the other was inherited from Feng Ling herself. For example, both Feng Ling and Third Child could absorb energy from fresh flesh and blood.

Feng Ling crouched halfway down and examined a piece of the corpse on the ground.

Even when these Parasite Humans had been alive, their skin had been covered in countless root-like tendrils, the same color as their skin. Now that she had chopped them into pieces, even more tendrils emerged from the cuts. They were translucent and felt like... well, like snail tentacles, wriggling about and groping through the air for something.

The tendrils continued making small movements, but the corpses themselves were indeed motionless.

Feng Ling checked again through Third Perspective. A small number of Red Dots remained. In other words, although she had chopped the Parasite Humans here into pieces, some of those pieces were actually still alive.
