The noise in the square stopped all at once.
Everyone was looking at Xiao Wu.
Tang San stood behind Lin Xuan, his eyes full of shock.
He had seen it clearly.
Of the two talismans, one was the Clear Mind Talisman he had seen before. The other was new.
Fire-attributed.
Once it was placed on Xiao Wu, it covered her in flames.
Was this the first soul skill Lin Xuan had mentioned, the Fire-Controlling Talisman?
It could add fire to someone else's attacks?
Tang San wondered how much it would increase her combat strength.
Wang Sheng's mouth hung open.
"The boss's soul skill... it can give someone else fire?"
No one answered him.
Xiao Wu looked down at the flames on her body and clenched her fists. The flames leaped with the movement, but they did not burn her at all.
She gave a cold snort.
"Xiao Chenyu, was it?"
Xiao Wu stamped her foot. Martial Soul Possession!
The Soft Bone Rabbit's white light covered her body, and a yellow Soul Ring rose beneath her feet.
Flames mingled with her rabbit Martial Soul, red and white intertwined.
Xiao Chenyu's smile froze. He looked at the flames around Xiao Wu, then at Lin Xuan's Soul Ring, which had already faded. His expression darkened.
"Get her!" Xiao Chenyu roared at his two lackeys.
Liu Long and Ling Feng activated Martial Soul Possession at the same time. Their white Soul Rings lit up as they charged.
Xiao Wu gave them no chance to get close.
With the Clear Mind Talisman in effect, she reacted faster than usual.
As Liu Long lunged from the left, Xiao Wu slipped aside. She raised her right leg, tucked in her knee, and drove her waist into the strike!
"First soul skill: Waist Bow!"
Her flame-wreathed leg slammed into Liu Long's side.
Liu Long flew sideways. The flames on his clothes were still burning when he hit the ground.
He rolled twice and spent a good while beating out the fire, his face twisted in pain.
Before Ling Feng could react, Xiao Wu's second kick was already upon him.
Her foot swept across Ling Feng's chest, trailing flames. He grunted, stumbled back four or five steps, and landed on his backside.
He looked down. A black scorch mark stained the front of his school uniform, and his skin stung fiercely.
Less than three seconds had passed.
Both lackeys were down.
Xiao Chenyu went pale.
Xiao Wu turned to face him, her long braid whipping around behind her. The flame at its tip traced an arc through the air.
"You? You think you're fit to make me your maid?"
Xiao Chenyu gritted his teeth and channeled Soul Power into both arms.
Gray wolf fur sprouted along them, and his nails grew long and sharp. His pupils took on a pale green tint.
"Wolf Martial Soul, possess me!"
"First soul skill: Wolf Claw!"
Xiao Chenyu rushed forward, slashing at Xiao Wu's face with the claws of his right hand.
Xiao Wu tilted her head out of the way, caught his wrist with her left hand, and twisted at the waist to slip beside him. She wrapped both legs around his waist and flipped, slamming him hard into the ground.
His back struck the stone slabs, drawing a muffled grunt from him. Then flames spread from Xiao Wu's legs, scorching his clothes and skin.
"Aah!"
Xiao Chenyu screamed and rolled across the ground, slapping at the flames on his body.
Xiao Wu hopped away and dusted off her hands.
The square was deathly silent.
Then Xiao Wu looked down at her still-flickering hands, her face lighting up with delight.
"Wow! This fire is way stronger than I expected!"
Xiao Wu ran back to Lin Xuan.
"When I kicked that fat guy, I could clearly feel my leg getting stronger! It didn't just burn him. My attack power went up too!"
Tang San walked over to Liu Long and examined the scorch marks on the ground.
Those flames were hot.
If an ordinary Soul Master with a hundred-year Soul Ring took a hit like that, they would suffer burns at best and lose the ability to fight at worst.
Most importantly, the flames clinging to Xiao Wu had not affected her speed or judgment.
The support effect far exceeded his expectations.
The Clear Mind Talisman sharpened mental perception, while the Fire-Controlling Talisman added fire-attributed attack power. With both talismans active, Xiao Wu's combat strength had jumped an entire level.
Tang San fell silent for a few seconds.
A powerful thought suddenly struck him. What would happen if Lin Xuan put talismans like these on an entire team?
A Support Soul Master like this was terrifying!
He had to.
He had to bring Lin Xuan into the Tang Sect!
Meanwhile, Xiao Chenyu rolled several more times before he managed to put out the flames. His school uniform was a charred mess, exposing reddened skin beneath.
His underlings without Soul Rings stood stunned for two seconds before rushing over to haul him up. Others helped Liu Long and Ling Feng, and the three were dragged out of the square, battered and filthy.
Xiao Chenyu looked back once as he left. His lips trembled as though he wanted to make some threat, but in the end, he said nothing.
What could he say?
Three sixth-year students, all Battle Soul Masters with one Soul Ring, had lost to one little girl? Xiao Chenyu still had his pride.
The noble students watching in the square dispersed too.
No one dared take another look at Xiao Wu.
The flames were still on her. She raised her arms and examined them from every angle, as if she had gotten a new toy.
"When does this fire go out?"
"It should last another half hour or so. But you can probably draw the flames in by restraining your Soul Power."
Lin Xuan thought for a moment before answering.
At his words, Xiao Wu began to restrain her Soul Power, and the flames vanished. But she found that she still had fire-attributed Soul Power. Whenever she imagined releasing it, the flames reappeared.
After drawing her Soul Power back in, Xiao Wu bounced twice in satisfaction.
"Lin Xuan, this soul skill of yours is so useful!"
Behind her, Wang Sheng wiped blood from the corner of his mouth and chimed in. "Boss, if you can make these in bulk, Dorm Seven could do whatever we want!"
Lin Xuan did not respond.
His mind was on something else.
The Fire-Controlling Talisman's effect on Xiao Wu was plain to see: flames clung to her, and her attack power increased.
But he had no idea exactly how large that increase was.
Those few exchanges with Xiao Chenyu had ended too quickly. Xiao Chenyu was only level eleven and could not withstand more than a few kicks, so there was no way to tell where the upper limit lay.
He needed something to test it against.
Lin Xuan turned to Tang San.
"Little San, there's something I'd like your help with."
Tang San had been examining the lingering flames on Xiao Wu. He looked up when Lin Xuan called him.
"What is it?"
"The Fire-Controlling Talisman is still affecting Xiao Wu. I want her to attack your Blue Silver Grass."
Lin Xuan explained his idea.
"I need to find out how much of a boost the Fire-Controlling Talisman gives. Fighting Xiao Chenyu and the others wasn't enough to tell. Your Blue Silver Grass should be much tougher now that you have your first Soul Ring. It would make a good test."
Tang San paused.
His first instinct was to refuse. But when he remembered that he wanted to recruit Lin Xuan, he nodded.
"All right."
He also wanted to see how much damage the Fire-Controlling Talisman could do to his Blue Silver Grass.
Xiao Wu's eyes lit up as soon as she heard there would be a fight.
"I get to fight Tang San? Sure!"
Tang San's mouth twitched. "Xiao Wu, you're attacking my Blue Silver Grass, not me."
"Same thing." Xiao Wu was already loosening up her wrists.
The three left the square and found a secluded clearing.
Wang Sheng tried to follow and watch, but one look from Lin Xuan stopped him.
"Go get your wounds treated first."
Wang Sheng touched the corner of his mouth and limped away.
Only the three of them remained in the clearing.
