In that ever-changing era, shocking news quietly spread across the world: Pirate King Gol D. Roger had been captured.
However, the cunning World Government did not announce the truth. Instead, they directly declared that Roger would be publicly executed.
This decision was undoubtedly a carefully considered political maneuver. They intended to use it to intimidate the pirates running wild across the seas and demonstrate the World Government's absolute authority.
Loguetown in the East Blue, an ordinary yet special place, was chosen as Roger's execution site.
It was Roger's birthplace. As if fate had come full circle, he would meet the end of his life there.
When the news spread throughout the world through newspapers, it was like a massive stone thrown into a calm lake, stirring up towering waves.
Rayleigh, Roger's former companion who had fought alongside him, was overwhelmed by immense grief and helplessness upon seeing the newspaper.
He picked up a bottle and drowned his sorrows through the endless night, while memories of adventuring across the seas with Roger kept surfacing in his mind.
"Uncle, take me to Loguetown. I want to see Father off one last time!"
That childish yet resolute voice broke the oppressive silence.
His little face was filled with sorrow. After the Roger Pirates disbanded, Rayleigh had taken on the responsibility of caring for Allen. Rayleigh had yet to decide where to settle down, but how could he refuse Allen's pleading eyes?
"Alright, Allen. I'll take you to Loguetown, so you can see Roger one last time."
Meanwhile, on a distant floating island, Golden Lion Shiki sat upon his throne with his brows tightly furrowed, pondering how he could defeat Roger and claim the Pirate King title he had long dreamed of.
Thud, thud, thud!
A burst of hurried footsteps shattered the silence in the hall as a subordinate rushed in with a newspaper.
"Boss, something huge has happened!"
Golden Lion slightly raised his eyes and asked disdainfully, "What is it? Why are you making such a fuss?"
"Pirate King Roger has been captured by the Marines, and they've announced a public execution!" the subordinate hurriedly reported.
Upon hearing this, Golden Lion shot to his feet and roared, "Don't joke with me! How could Roger possibly be captured?!"
"Boss! It's true! The newspapers are all reporting it!"
The subordinate's words were like a blade stabbing into Golden Lion's heart.
"I don't believe it. Roger would never be captured!"
In fury, Golden Lion drew his pistol and fired a shot at his subordinate's foot. Then he used his power to float into the air. Blinded by rage, he charged alone toward Marine Headquarters Marineford.
There was only one belief in his heart: he had to save Roger from the Marines, because in his eyes, Roger could only be defeated by his own hands.
Sengoku and Garp, two key figures in the Marines, had no choice but to appear together to stop Golden Lion's madness.
"Golden Lion Shiki, this is not a place where you can run wild."
Sengoku shouted.
Golden Lion responded arrogantly.
"Roger is a man I acknowledge. How could he lose to trash like you?"
Before his words had even faded, the three of them plunged into an intense battle.
The battle lasted for three full days. Gunpowder smoke filled the battlefield, the sky darkened, and the shockwaves from their clashing powers seemed ready to destroy all of Marineford.
In the end, Golden Lion was no match for Sengoku and Garp working together. He was imprisoned in Impel Down, where his life behind bars began.
As news of Golden Lion's defeat spread, the day of Roger's execution drew ever closer.
In Impel Down, on the night before the execution, Garp walked with Heavy Steps as he slowly made his way to Roger's solitary cell.
"Old friend, you're here."
There was no fear of approaching death on Roger's face. Instead, he smiled as he greeted Garp.
"Go on. What do you want to tell me before you die?"
"My unborn child... I'm entrusting him to you, old friend."
Garp's eyes widened, his face full of disbelief.
"Bastard! What kind of joke is this? I'm a Marine!"
But Roger continued pleading earnestly, "Old friend! Please."
After their brief exchange, Garp left the cell with an incomparably complicated heart.
The next morning, the sun slowly rose. Golden light spilled across the sea surface, as though heralding the arrival of a New Era while announcing the end of the old one.
On the sea surface, a Dog Head Warship cut through the waves, followed by several other warships.
Garp wore a grave expression aboard the flagship. As the person in charge of this escort, he knew the weight of the responsibility on his shoulders.
Under his escort, Roger was brought to Loguetown.
The streets of Loguetown were already packed with people. Filled with reverence and curiosity, they all wanted to witness the Pirate King's true face.
Wearing shackles, Roger slowly Appeared before the crowd under Marine escort.
Though burdened with heavy restraints, there was not a trace of fear on his face. Every step he took was steady and powerful, and an invisible kingly presence radiated from him—a majesty forged through countless storms and challenges.
Roger had now been escorted onto the execution platform.
Below the platform stood many figures who would later become famous throughout the pirate world, including Hawk Eyes, Doflamingo, and Moria.
They all watched Roger silently. Different emotions filled their eyes: reverence, curiosity, and greed for the Pirate King's treasure.
Not far away, Allen's eyes were red as he stared fixedly at his Father. His body Trembled slightly, as though he would charge forward without regard for anything the very next second.
Just as Allen could no longer hold himself back and was about to Make a Move, Rayleigh reacted quickly and reached out to stop him.
"Allen, I know how you feel right now, but I hope you can calm down. This was your Father's decision. He didn't want us to interfere. This is his mission."
Allen bit his lip and could only mutter, "Hmm, hmm," struggling not to cry.
At that moment, someone in the crowd could no longer suppress their curiosity and shouted.
"Pirate King, you reached the end of the Grand Line, so you must have obtained the Great Treasure. Where did you put it?"
The question was like a bomb thrown into the crowd, instantly igniting everyone's excitement. All eyes focused on Roger, and everyone eagerly wanted to know the answer.
When the Marines heard the question, their faces changed drastically. They knew that every word Roger spoke carried enormous influence. If he revealed the treasure's location, it would surely plunge the world into chaos.
So the Marines immediately gave the order to execute Roger, not daring to give him the chance to answer.
Yet at the very moment the Marines gave the order, Roger had already shouted the words that would drive the entire world mad.
"Want my treasure? Then go find it! I left everything there!"
Roger's words exploded through the crowd like thunder. Seeing this, the two executioners raised their long blades without hesitation and thrust them into Roger.
Squelch!
The blades pierced Roger's body, and blood splattered everywhere.
With the death of Pirate King Roger, the people below the platform seemed as though they had been frozen in place, standing there in a daze.
A few seconds later, cries of excitement erupted from the crowd—desire for the Pirate King's treasure, and yearning for unknown adventures.
