Background
Allen was originally an orphan from Blue Star who supported himself through part-time work from middle school onward. During a mountain hike, a seven-colored beam transported him to the pirate world, placing his adult mind in a child's body 141.
He appeared as an infant during a clash between Gol D. Roger and Edward Newgate. Roger adopted and named him Gol D. Allen, while Whitebeard—though also drawn to the child—did not take him in 301. Allen subsequently grew up among the Roger Pirates and became sworn brothers with Shanks and Buggy 141.
While aboard the Moby Dick, Allen awakened the Invincible System. Its first rewards included Conqueror's Haki, the Heavenly Demise Divine Sword, a physique-enhancing pill, and Hero Points 141 142. Roger entrusted his development to Silvers Rayleigh, who trained Allen alongside Shanks and Buggy in swordsmanship and Haki 139.
After outgrowing Rayleigh's ability to train him directly, Allen spent years refining all three forms of Haki, his Space-Time and Time Laws, and his swordsmanship. He then travelled the Four Seas to seek real combat, targeting pirate crews and challengers for both justice and Attribute Points 166.
Appearance
At fifteen or sixteen, Allen is described as a 1.8-meter-tall youth with sharp brows, bright eyes, and an otherworldly presence. He commonly wears white and carries himself with the composure of a sword immortal 293.
- Often summons the Heavenly Demise Divine Sword through a vortex or the command “Sword Come” 142 289.
- Can alter his and Yamato's facial features through Space Ability for concealment 134.
- His Space-Time Armor is covered in gear-like runes and black-red spatial lightning, with only white light visible through its eye slits 395.
- Armament: Susanoo manifests as a black armored giant surrounding his body 157.
Personality
Allen is boastful, provocative, and deeply fond of theatrics. He regularly taunts stronger opponents, challenges established swordsmen, and calls attention to his own strength, even when doing so escalates a situation 183 199 207.
Behind that arrogance, he is a capable planner. He anticipates enemy troop movements, uses himself as bait to create openings for the Revolutionary Army, recruits powerful figures personally, and assigns practical roles to allies and subordinates 104 201 375.
He is also ruthless toward enemies, especially pirates, CP agents, and Celestial Dragons. Allen treats high-value opponents as sources of Attribute Points, manipulates enemies into compromising positions, and is willing to kill or exploit them to gain power 152 176 304. Conversely, he repeatedly protects people he considers his own, including Hancock, Robin, Nana, Fisher Tiger, and Yamato 18 96 173.
Abilities & Skills
Swordsmanship
Allen is an exceptional swordsman trained by Rayleigh. His swordsmanship alone was assessed as comparable to a Marine Vice Admiral while still a child, and he later developed techniques beyond traditional swordsmanship 139 281.
- Divine Avoidance — Perfect version of Roger's signature sword technique 139.
- Thousand Strikes — Fires layered, multicolored slashes; used against Kaido 148.
- Formless Sword Intent — Projects slashing attacks through intent alone, allowing him to strike at range without physically swinging a weapon 304.
- Myriad Swords Returning to Origin — A powerful technique that pressured Hawk Eyes during their duel 183.
- Believes swordsmanship must continually develop new possibilities rather than merely imitate established styles 281.
Heavenly Demise Divine Sword
A divine weapon originating from a cultivation world and acquired from Allen's beginner gift package 142.
- Can be summoned from his spatial storage with consciousness or the phrase “Sword Come” 142.
- Flight — Allows Allen and companions to travel through the sky on the sword 166 201.
- Absorption — Can absorb a living target's life force or Devil Fruit ability after contact 18.
- Absorbed Devil Fruit abilities can be claimed by Allen or transferred to another person or object 18.
- Allen can use it to extract vast life force for the Life Spring, though doing so heavily drains his stamina and concentration 380.
- If Allen personally claims an absorbed Devil Fruit ability, he may use only one and becomes vulnerable to Seastone and seawater 18.
Space-Time and Time Laws
Allen's Laws are personal powers rather than Devil Fruits. They give him exceptional mobility, battlefield control, and escape options 17 162.
- Teleport / Space Transfer — Instantly relocates himself, allies, enemies, and attacks 162 208.
- Space Sphere / Prison Cage — Creates enclosed spatial barriers for restraint, defense, or trapping opponents with sword energy 21 306.
- Kamui Space — A private storage and transport space used to conceal people, goods, and Devil Fruits 18 134.
- Alternate Space — Isolates a fight in a separate environment, as used against Zephyr 23.
- Time acceleration and deceleration — Speeds up or slows down attacks and targets within range 17 23.
- Strong Haki can break through his negative time effects, and maintaining large-scale spatial constructs consumes stamina 17 21.
Haki
Allen has mastered Conqueror's, Armament, and Observation Haki 166.
- Conqueror's Haki — Awakened in childhood; can incapacitate weaker opponents and later form thunder dragons capable of targeting multiple high-level enemies 142 125.
- Conqueror's Haki Infusion — Coats attacks with advanced Conqueror's Haki, allowing him to clash directly with Kaido 156 159.
- Armament Haki emission — An advanced application mastered before his spar with Rayleigh 156.
- Abyss purification — His Haki can suppress Abyss power; he purifies Shanks and renders him unconscious 125.
- Observation Haki — Used for awareness and combat vigilance from an early stage 17 145.
Susanoo and Armor Forms
Allen combines Space Ability with condensed Armament Haki to create armored combat forms.
- Armament: Susanoo — A three-meter black armored giant with high speed, striking power, and defense 157 94.
- Great Armament: Susanoo — A seven-meter enhanced version wielding a greatsword 262.
- Space-Time Armor — A full-body armored form surrounded by spatial distortion and black-red space-time lightning 395.
- His constructs can absorb or neutralize powerful elemental attacks, though the divine sword can be pushed toward its limits by sustained absorption 136.
Equipment, Forces, and Assets
- Heavenly Demise Divine Sword — Allen's principal weapon and source of several special abilities 142 166.
- Mystic Mirror — A mirror used for long-distance video communication; gifted to Hancock 151.
- Eternal Dragon Phoenix Rings — Couple's rings given to Hancock 151.
- Hachinosu — A cyber-pirate ship used by Allen and his Imperial Guards 328.
- Pluton Battleship — A warship held by Allen that the World Government considers capable of destroying attacking forces with a single blast 79.
