Blue Star and Adoption

Allen was an orphan on Blue Star who supported himself and paid for his education through part-time work from middle school onward. After his freshman military training, a class mountain hike ended with a pillar of rainbow light transporting him into the pirate world as a baby. He retained an adult mind and knowledge of One Piece, though his familiarity mainly covered events after Luffy’s introduction 2.

Roger and Whitebeard competed to adopt the child who had fallen from the sky. Roger took him in, named him Gol D. Allen, and raised him among the Roger Pirates. Allen became sworn brothers with Shanks and Buggy, while Whitebeard continued trying to make him his own son 1 2.

System Awakening and Roger’s Final Voyage

Allen’s system awakened during a meeting between the Roger and Whitebeard crews. Its first stated mission required him to leave a deep impression on Momonosuke. Personality

Allen’s strongest early attachment is to his adoptive family. He openly fears losing Roger and treasures the care of the Roger Pirates. His ambition combines becoming the world’s strongest with overthrowing the Celestial Dragons, then living comfortably with a family of his own 3 5 18.

He is theatrical, boastful, and deliberately provocative. He enjoys dramatic sword summons, taunts Kaido as “Little Loach,” and stages public confrontations to shape his reputation. His swagger does not prevent caution: he conceals the system, hides his connection to Roger, and repeatedly uses teleportation to escape stronger opponents 3 5 20 43 113.

His opposition to slavery and predatory pirates coexists with a strong appetite for power and profit. He saves enslaved people, but also values Celestial Dragons as unusually lucrative sources of Attribute Points. His violence becomes especially severe in Impel Down, where he kills prisoners despite their pleas, while sparing Magellan out of respect for his conscientious work guarding criminals 23 32 281 284 285.

Allen is affectionate toward his partners but also jealous, possessive, and manipulative. He privately considers using Hiyori’s requests to advance his own plans and worries that Hancock might develop feelings for Luffy.
