"Just got back." Bai Xuan turned to Bai Yu. "Yu, are you okay?"

"Nothing serious. I just felt a little off." Bai Yu shook her head. "But after some sleep, I feel much better."

Meanwhile, Su Yue sat in her room, looking displeased.

"Miss."

The old butler entered and reported, "Your father learned that the Evil Organization threatened you. He's contacted the Investigation Bureau and the Public Security Bureau. They'll send people to protect you soon."

"Honestly, Father! I told him I didn't need his help, and I certainly don't need the Investigation Bureau meddling!"

Su Yue sighed helplessly. "I know. We'll do as Father arranged."

"Thank you for understanding." The old butler nodded and left.

Once he was gone, Su Yue took a white Collar from her pocket. Five different symbols adorned it: a triangle, a circle, a square, a heart, and a five-pointed star.

"The Investigation Bureau can't be trusted," she murmured. "I have to rely on myself."

With that, she fastened the Collar around her pale neck and touched the triangle symbol with a fingertip.

The next instant, a faint light glimmered in her sapphire-blue, starry eyes, as though she had entered some extraordinary state.

"Achoo!"

Bai Xuan sneezed, rubbed his nose, and muttered in confusion, "What was that? Has it gotten colder?"

"Human, what's wrong?" Marée Alaira tilted her head toward him.

"Nothing."

Bai Xuan shook his head and looked toward Xilin, who was busy dealing with the Skeleton Soldiers pouring up from underground.

"Xilin, is there a faster way? At this rate, we won't finish before dawn."

"There is,"

Xilin said with a small nod, "but it will consume a great deal of Life Magic."

"That's fine. Go ahead," Bai Xuan urged. "I'll replenish it for you when we get back."

Xilin's eyes lit up. Gripping her sword with both hands, she chanted softly:

"Divine Light..."

As the incantation ended, an enormous golden Magic Circle appeared on the ground.

Then brilliant golden light burst forth!

The Skeleton Soldiers below had no chance to crawl out before they were obliterated by the Holy Light.

"Done."

Xilin sheathed the Lightless Sword and hurried back to Bai Xuan's side.

"Divine Magic really is effective against skeletons..." Bai Xuan murmured. He turned to open the Teleportation Array and head home.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar consciousness entered his mind and stirred deep within his soul.

What's going on?

Bai Xuan frowned, a bad feeling rising in him.

While he was still trying to make sense of it, a familiar voice sounded in his ear. "Hello, mysterious Mr. Slime Mask."

Bai Xuan was surprised. He was certain it was Su Yue's voice in his mind.

And the way she spoke to him was much like his telepathic conversations with Legend.

"What is it?" Bai Xuan asked.

"Have you opened the gift I gave you?" Su Yue asked softly.

"Ah... I forgot." Bai Xuan rubbed his nose. It had completely slipped his mind.

"You forgot??"

Su Yue paused, then laughed softly. "That's all right. It isn't important. What matters is—I want to make a deal with you..."
