The ruins of Arkham Asylum looked especially sinister beneath the moonlight.
This was where all of Gotham City's madness and evil began, and where Harley Quinn's life had changed forever.
Now, she sat atop the graffiti-covered wall, swinging her legs as she waited for the mysterious person who had "invited" her.
A faint electrical hum filled the air, and Batman slowly emerged from the shadows.
"You?" Harley was surprised, but mostly excited. "Old Bat, I thought my Lil' Puddin' had scared you into hiding long ago."
Batman ignored her taunt, his voice as low and gravelly as ever. "Harley, are you really happy?"
The smile on Harley's face froze for a moment.
"What nonsense are you talking about? I'm the queen of the universe now. I have an entire planet for an amusement park. Of course I'm happy."
"Are you?" Batman walked up to her and switched on a Portable Holographic Projector.
The projection showed scenes from Link's "Perfect Universe."
Everyone wore happy smiles. The planets coexisted peacefully, with no conflict and no poverty.
"Look at them, Harley." Batman's voice was like a devil's whisper. "They don't feel anger, sadness, or jealousy. They've even lost the passion to pursue their dreams and the courage to break the rules."
"They're merely alive, like a bunch of preprogrammed robots."
Then the projection switched to Link.
He sat upright on the Throne, his gaze imposing yet hollow as he handled the "affairs" of the entire universe.
"Now look at him." Batman's voice struck straight at Harley's heart. "He's no longer the madman who would blow Gotham sky-high with you, no longer the man who would take a bullet for you in battle. He's become a lonely god, a prisoner trapped by 'perfection' and 'order.'"
"He's become boring too, hasn't he?"
Harley fell silent.
