"That's always been Vought's way of doing things, hasn't it?"
Maeve spoke up beside him, interrupting Lin Mo's thoughts. She leaned back in her chair and glanced at the documents Ashley had just put on the table.
"Figure out the publicity first, then decide what kind of person to look for."
"As for whether that person is actually cut out to be a hero, they can worry about that after they're in."
Ashley didn't respond. Despite having been explaining the process a moment earlier, she now fell silent quite naturally and lowered her head, making a show of organizing the documents.
This apparently wasn't a topic she could freely weigh in on.
Maeve could say it, and of course Lin Mo could too. The same went for Joanna, who was sitting beside them.
Even if those three repeated what they'd just said right in front of the executives, they probably wouldn't get into any trouble.
Ashley was different. Those people were still her bosses, after all. Lin Mo treating her well didn't mean she could sit here and join in criticizing how unreliable the company's executives were.
At times like this, all she had to do was listen.
Maeve hadn't expected her to respond anyway. After those few offhand remarks, she let the subject drop.
She was actually in a pretty good mood today. Although she wasn't too happy with how Vought chose its recruits, she still felt a little anticipation about a new member joining the Seven.
She saw the same handful of people every day and already knew exactly what each of them was like. A fresh face might bring something different.
What if the person joining this time turned out to be decent?
Someone who could at least hold a normal conversation and was willing to help
