Background / History

Lin Mo arrives in The Boys world as a newborn with a Kryptonian bloodline and memories of another life. Vought finds him and takes him to an underground research facility. After his body breaks down an experimental V5 injection, researchers mistake his innate durability for a Compound V success and designate him SOL-0. He lets them believe his abilities are limited and manageable, expecting that cooperation will keep him alive long enough to grow stronger in sunlight 2 3 6.

At age three, Vought introduces him to Joanna, designated HL-01, hoping he can become a means of controlling her. Lin Mo instead forms a genuine bond with her. Because she cannot easily injure him, he can teach her to moderate her strength through contact and clear feedback. As they grow up, he challenges her willingness to use lethal force and encourages her to question Vought’s claims. The company nonetheless uses their attachment to secure cooperation with tests and training 9 10 18 20 23 35.

On his eighteenth birthday, the long-silent Dimensional Shuttle System activates and rewards him for changes he has already made to the world, particularly Joanna’s altered path. Soon afterward, he reveals how much power he has hidden, destroys the Bunker and its research records, and spares some staff who had helped them. At Godolkin, Lin Mo’s restrained performance in ability testing still draws campus-wide attention. He works with Joanna and Maeve to expose the power behind the university’s underground operation.
