Joanna noticed his gaze and looked over as well.
"What is it?"
"Nothing."
Lin Mo kept his expression unchanged, then turned to Ashley.
"I think she's the better fit too. Let's settle on her."
For once, all four of them agreed. There was no need for further discussion. Ashley looked at the two files in front of her and placed Annie's on top.
With that, their final choice was officially decided.
She stood and spoke to a staff member. Before long, Annie and Misty returned.
Both of them were looking at her. Misty still wore a smile, but Annie's fingers had unconsciously tightened together. She hadn't been this nervous even during her demonstration.
Ashley didn't deliberately draw out the suspense. Holding the file, she began to speak.
"We've finished our discussion."
"The person selected to join The Super Seven this time is..."
Her gaze settled on Annie, and she extended a hand toward her.
"Annie January."
"Congratulations."
Annie froze for a moment. She had been watching Ashley intently, afraid of missing a single word.
Yet when she actually heard her own name, she couldn't quite process it.
"Me?"
"Yes, you."
Ashley smiled and nodded.
"You passed."
This time, Annie finally heard her clearly. Her tightly clasped fingers loosened at once, and then she couldn't stop smiling.
"Thank you!"
"Really, thank you so much. I..."
She opened her mouth, suddenly unsure what to say first.
Of course she was happy. Something she had dreamed about so many times since childhood had actually come true.
I made it into The Super Seven. From now on, I'll get to work with Lin Mo, Maeve, and the others.
At that thought, Annie couldn't help looking toward them again. Her eyes shone so brightly that she hardly needed to use her powers.
