Danzo's Residence stood on the western side of Konoha, secluded and quiet. Compared with the bustle of Konoha's central streets, the silence here was almost oppressive.

The door to the main house stood half-open. Inside, the light was dim, and the air smelled stale.

Danzo sat upright with his eyes half-closed and his hands resting lightly on his knees. A chill seemed to hang around him. Though confined to his home, he had lost none of the commanding presence he had cultivated over years in power.

"Who's there?!"

His hoarse, sharp voice rang out, edged with the vigilance of a man long accustomed to killing.

He snapped his eyes open and swept the room with a gaze as keen as a hawk's.

For an instant, he had distinctly felt something faint: the sensation of being watched.

He had sensed no Chakra. It was an instinct born of strength, as though a pair of eyes in the dark had fixed on him.

But everywhere he looked, from the shadowed corners to the gaps around the doors and windows, there was nothing. The entire room was free of anything unusual.

Danzo frowned deeply. He slowly raised his right hand and formed a hand sign, swiftly circulating the Chakra within him. In the next instant, the three Tomoe in the Sharingan transplanted into his right eye spun. Color drained from his vision, leaving everything in black and white, and the surrounding Chakra pathways lay bare before him.

Still, he detected nothing unusual.
