Background / History

Obito arrives late on his first day at the Academy, saying he stopped to help an old woman cross the street. In his introduction, he declares that he wants to become Hokage and earn everyone’s recognition 4.

His first practical match ends in defeat when Rin’s cheering distracts him just as he gains an advantage over Ken Tanaka. He also loses in the first round of the later class-ranking tournament while repeatedly glancing at her 5 9. After Kakashi applies for early graduation, Obito demands the same despite having the class’s lowest written-test score and a practical ranking in the teens; teacher Takashi Murakami rejects his approach 12 13.

Obito joins Tsukimi, Guy, and Asuma in daily after-school training, later bringing Rin into the group. After two years, he passes the early-graduation exams and joins Minato’s team with Kakashi and Rin 13 14 21. The team initially receives D-rank missions; Obito is frustrated when Tsukimi’s team receives a C-rank assignment and later completes a mission reclassified as B-rank 21 33.

Obito is outspoken, impulsive, and quick to boast—especially about becoming Hokage or surpassing Kakashi. He is also easily embarrassed when Tsukimi points out how often he watches Rin during fights 4 5 11. Rin’s encouragement reliably lifts his spirits, while Kakashi’s blunt remarks frequently provoke an argument 5 21.

He struggles with consistency before joining Tsukimi’s strict training routine. Even after repeated losses, he keeps seeking stronger opponents and asking for another chance 12 13.
