One glance was enough to see the Asura Blood Shadow looming above the Rakshasa God Statue. He saw the six half-open crimson eyes behind it, and the filthy divine power it was using to force the Rakshasa Evil Thought into Bibi Dong's body.
Then he saw his master. Her phoenix eyes, once cool and sharp, had turned murky and strange beneath a wash of blood-red evil thought. A smile he had never seen before curled at her lips. It was as though someone else had taken over her body.
"Master."
He did not move or draw his sword. He simply stood there, calling to someone who had lost her way home.
Bibi Dong seemed to hear a voice from somewhere impossibly far away. Her body stilled for an instant.
But the smile returned. She slowly turned toward Fang Fan, her crimson eyes cold as ice that would never melt.
"Asura God King."
Fang Fan finally looked at the blood shadow. His voice was as calm as a creditor arriving to collect a debt.
"What am I supposed to say to you?
You're a mighty God King, yet to deal with one mortal, you have to use my master's body as a blade.
Did you throw away your dignity long ago?"
The Asura God King did not move. The blood shadow merely pulsed twice, letting out a low laugh like stones rolling through deep water.
"Fang Fan, you've surpassed even my expectations.
Unfortunately, you're too late.
Her evil thought has already erupted. Unless I take it back myself, she'll keep sinking deeper—
If you strike, she dies. If you don't, she'll kill you. To die at the hands of the master you respect most..."
"I rather like that ending."
"Like it?"
