The two chatted and laughed as they headed upstairs.
Liu Yulan and her son were left standing to one side, looking rather embarrassed.
Yan Ren and Yan Wang acted as though they hadn't noticed. Both had served in the military, and although they hadn't been stationed in the same place, they chatted and laughed over their army days.
Grandpa Yan loved hearing about that sort of thing, so he joined their lively conversation.

Whenever Liu Yulan and her son came over, the atmosphere turned strange. Going out was far more relaxing.
Liang Ying had waited outside the reception room for over two hours.
She had drunk four or five cups of tea and gone to the bathroom twice, yet there was still no movement inside.
Unable to sit still any longer, Liang Ying had just stood up when the female employee immediately asked, "What are you going to do?"

"Oh, then... then I'll pour you some tea." The employee was probably still quite young. Her guilty conscience made her movements stiff.
