Ding, ding, ding~
After Mo Bai and Feixue returned to the research station the students had set up in the Dark Plains, Mo Bai contacted Losera.
"Looks like you've finished your mission?"
Losera's voice came through, sounding a little weary.
It seemed the recent trouble with Aleph-1 and activating the Tunneler had given the Principal quite a headache.
Of course, concern for Rover and Mo Bai as they faced the enemy wasn't her only worry.
The old guard of the Deep Space Union and the New Federation had been pressuring her too.
To them, the Tunneler—a savior to Lahai Luo and perhaps the whole world—was merely a tool to wring profits from.
They had no intention of losing such a valuable machine in Void Matter Space, so they wouldn't activate it lightly.
Losera's intervention had put an end to that.
"Yeah, we're done here. How are Rover and Aemeath doing with the Tunneler?"
Although Mo Bai asked about activating the Tunneler, the activation itself wasn't what worried him.
After taking Singulum's core, Aemeath had gained the ability to resonate deeply with the Tunneler.
She had then gone from a Candidate to a Tunneler Resonator.
With Rover and Aemeath, a Tunneler Resonator, handling it, Mo Bai had only one other thing to worry about.
Enemies outside the Academy could be driven back, but the parasites within it...
"Whew. I teamed up with some of the Academy's scholars and promised those profit-obsessed people a fortune."
Losera's answer put Mo Bai's mind at ease.
No wonder she could lead the extraordinary minds of Star Torch Academy. The Principal knew how to give a speech and win people over.
"Barring any surprises, Rover and Aemeath are probably already piloting the Tunneler toward you with its new Furnace Core installed. Get ready."
