Mo Bai reunited with the original Mahoraga, who had gained a mind and a connection to Void Matter during their long separation. They began fighting, and Mo Bai wondered what had kept Mahoraga sane through more than a thousand years in the Void Matter Space.

• Mo Bai recognized the changed gray figure as the original Mahoraga and discovered that Mahoraga could now speak and think for himself.
• Mahoraga mocked Mo Bai for sparing him and reminded him that his friends were in grave danger.
• Mo Bai and Mahoraga exchanged powerful blows, and Mo Bai sensed that Mahoraga had gained a connection to Void Matter.
• Mahoraga questioned why Mo Bai had unlocked only one of his Six Eyes, and Mo Bai acknowledged that he was deliberately holding back.
• Mo Bai reflected that more than a thousand years had passed for Mahoraga in the Void Matter Space and wondered what had preserved his mind.

Mahoraga taunted Mo Bai about his belief that he respected life, shaking his resolve until his attacks weakened. Mahoraga broke through Mo Bai’s defenses and began pummeling him, while Mo Bai’s adaptation to the blows proceeded slowly.

• Mo Bai used Blue to pull Mahoraga and struck him repeatedly with Red, while Mahoraga pinned himself in place with the Sword of Extermination.
• Mahoraga accused Mo Bai of hypocrisy, citing his mother’s death and his life as a Jujutsu Sorcerer, and Mo Bai’s attacks grew weaker as his convictions faltered.

Mo Bai used Etu to distract Mahoraga while he prepared Hollow Technique: Purple, then fired it at him. As Purple raced toward Mahoraga, Mo Bai began expanding Unlimited Void.

• Mahoraga adapted to Mo Bai’s Red and used it to blast Etu out of the space, where Aleph-1’s main body devoured it.

After Mo Bai left Mahoraga trapped in the Void Matter Space, Mahoraga struggled with his newfound independence and the loneliness of the chaotic realm. He discovered he could absorb a piece of Void Matter, understood Mo Bai’s promise to return, and resolved to grow stronger while waiting for him.

• Mahoraga failed to escape the Void Matter Space and vented his fury by throwing debris and punching at the space itself.
• Aleph-1 noticed Mahoraga but ignored him, expecting the trapped being to eventually succumb to the chaos.
• As Mahoraga grew despondent, a faint voice echoed in his mind and reminded him of Mo Bai.
• Mahoraga tore off and swallowed a glowing piece of Void Matter, absorbing its frequency and understanding Mo Bai’s promise to return.
• Mahoraga vowed to grow stronger for a thousand years and crush Mo Bai when he came back.

Mahoraga endured a thousand years in Void Matter Space, resisting the influence of swallowed frequencies while holding on to his promise to defeat Mo Bai. He bargained with Aleph-1 for a powerful Wheel, later sent Mo Bai a warning, and arranged a battleground for their future duel.

• Mahoraga devoured Void Matter and lingering human frequencies, but their memories and thoughts threatened to change him.
• He kept his focus on defeating Mo Bai, and Aleph-1 noticed him consuming Void Matter needed to attack Solaris.
• Aleph-1 bargained with Mahoraga, giving him a Wheel made from condensed Void Matter and Mahoraga's Cursed Energy in exchange for his restraint.

• Mahoraga’s Wheel kept turning as Purple vanished, and Mahoraga emerged alive before healing his injuries with Reverse Cursed Technique.

Mo Bai discovered that Mahoraga’s new Wheel let him absorb and return energy attacks, an ability he called Gluttony. The chapter ended with Mahoraga preparing to fire a copied Hollow Technique: Purple at Mo Bai.

• Mo Bai realized his Adaptive Wheel could preserve adapted resistances but would vanish whenever he switched Cursed Techniques.
• Mahoraga struck Mo Bai again, and Mo Bai used Blue to change his flight path and create distance.
• Mo Bai decided to use Limitless for mobility while adapting to Mahoraga's existence, placing Blue behind him as springboards and bait.
• Mahoraga pulled enormous Prayer Beads from his mouth and slipped them onto his hand, revealing a Cursed Tool he had created through years of trial and error.

Mahoraga studied how cursed tools were made and used his own body to create them in the Void Matter Space. He fashioned Prayer Beads that could stop the surrounding void matter from devouring objects, giving him a way to counter Mo Bai’s Adaptive Wheel and prepare an arena for their fight.

• Mahoraga found that tools made by simply saturating objects with cursed energy were too weak to be useful.
• Mahoraga realized his body could provide cursed energy-rich material and repeatedly severed and regenerated his limbs, piling them into a bathtub.
• Mahoraga immersed the Sword of Extermination and assorted objects in the cursed energy solution to make cursed tools.
• Mahoraga tested the Prayer Beads and discovered they could stop the surrounding void matter from instinctively devouring nearby objects over a wide area.
• Mahoraga swallowed the Prayer Beads for safekeeping until he could use them against Mo Bai.

Mo Bai fought Mahoraga by combining Blue with a Black Flash and used Red to gain the upper hand, while Mahoraga absorbed and returned the attack. Mahoraga then revealed the Prayer Beads, which stopped cursed energy from flowing and left both Adaptive Wheels unable to turn.

• Mo Bai assessed that Mahoraga had adapted to his physical and Limitless attacks, so he charged in to force Mahoraga to reveal the Prayer Beads' ability.
• Mo Bai used Blue to draw Mahoraga in and struck him with a Black Flash, but Mahoraga absorbed Blue and fired back with a Red he had previously devoured.
• Mo Bai's Adaptive Wheel turned after Red hit him, and he taunted Mahoraga as their exchange left him with the advantage.
• Mahoraga admitted that [Gluttony] could not match [Adaptation] and removed the Prayer Beads from his wrist.
• Mahoraga activated the Prayer Beads, causing cursed energy to stop flowing and both his and Mo Bai's Wheels to lose the ability to turn.

Mo Bai fought Mahoraga inside Aleph-1’s arena, where Mahoraga’s Prayer Beads stopped cursed energy and disabled both the Adaptive Wheel and Limitless. Mo Bai and his shikigami set up a coordinated attack, but Mahoraga prepared to answer with his own Black Flash.

• Mo Bai realized the Prayer Beads halted cursed energy and the Adaptive Wheel within their range, forcing him and Mahoraga into close combat.
• Mahoraga explained that a Mahoraga without his Wheel would be a laughingstock, then drew his Sword of Extermination.
• Mo Bai summoned Etu and Mountain, assigning Etu to lead the assault while Mountain prepared the crucial attack.
• Etu charged Mahoraga, sank into the shadows, then emerged behind him and restrained him as Mo Bai closed in with a Black Flash.

Mo Bai lured Mahoraga into his Domain Expansion, Chimera Shadow Garden, and used it to fully activate his Maximum Technique, Zhengming. The newly formed shikigami came alive as Mahoraga destroyed the domain’s ghostly flames.

• Mahoraga matched Mo Bai’s Black Flash attacks and struck him with the Sword of Extermination, but Mo Bai healed the wound.
• Mo Bai used Blue to lure Mahoraga, then escaped his attack with the Ten Shadows Technique’s reversal before opening Chimera Shadow Garden.

Mo Bai and Zhengming fought Mahoraga in the Chimera Shadow Garden, with Zhengming’s powerful attacks forcing Mahoraga to reveal his Black Flash. Mo Bai then appeared behind Mahoraga and activated the Wish-Bearing Bell, seeing possible futures and preparing to draw on their power.

• Mahoraga explained that he had read Mo Bai’s memories while he was still a shadow, as Zhengming charged at him.
• Zhengming clashed with Mahoraga, combining the abilities of the fused Shikigami and briefly driving Mahoraga backward.
• Zhengming bound Mahoraga with his tongue, used Nue’s lightning against him, and brought forth a second Zhengming through Rabbit Escape’s cloning ability.
• Mahoraga destroyed one Zhengming with black lightning, then overwhelmed the other with full-power Black Flash.
• Mo Bai traveled through the domain’s shadows, touched Mahoraga’s head, and used the Wish-Bearing Bell to view possible futures.

Mo Bai used Feixue’s Wish-Bearing Bell to view alternate futures and found one in which the Goddess had empowered and later planned to kill a compliant version of him. He borrowed that future’s pure-white katana, then hid in his shadow to trace its power to its original owner and have the blade unlocked.

• Mo Bai examined alternate versions of himself shaped by different choices, including ones who joined the Remnant Star Society or killed Mo Hei.
• Mo Bai watched a future in which the Goddess treated him as a servant and planned to arrange his death after growing bored of him.
• Mo Bai chose that future to borrow the Goddess’s power, hoping to deal with Mahoraga, the people who had forgotten him, and Rover’s distant battlefield.
• Mo Bai returned to the present holding a pure-white katana, and Mahoraga sensed that the blade could kill him.

Mo Bai used Cursed Energy to reach the Goddess in Hei and questioned her about her role in his journey. She offered to help him if he answered a question, leaving him unsure what she wanted and wary of the future in which he became her assistant.

• Mo Bai sent his consciousness to Hei by tracing the Cursed Energy within the katana he had obtained through the [Future-Seeking Body].
• The Goddess appeared as a white-haired girl, and Mo Bai discussed her choice of him and her decision not to alter events in Solaris.
• The Goddess teased Mo Bai about using special privilege to bring him to her side, while he recalled a vision of himself becoming her assistant.
• Mo Bai realized the vision might branch from a choice he was about to make and asked whether helping him required something in return.
• The Goddess said he only needed to answer a question and promised to help if his answer satisfied her.

Mo Bai faced the Goddess to earn permission to use the katana and return to help Rover and Aemeath. After rejecting his first two answers to who mattered most to him, the Goddess heard him answer that it was himself.

• Mo Bai realized he needed the Goddess's permission to use the katana and hoped its power would let him return safely to the arena and help Rover and Aemeath.
• The Goddess explained that she was powerful but could not see through everyone's hearts, then asked Mo Bai who held first place in his heart.
• Mo Bai answered Rover, but the Goddess said he was wrong and gave him two tries left.
• Mo Bai answered Mo Hei, explaining to himself that Mo Hei was like family, but the Goddess rejected that answer too.

Mo Bai reflected on selfishness and admitted that summoning Mahoraga had been an arrogant attempt to shoulder everything himself rather than trust Rover and the others. The Goddess granted him the power to use the sword when he returned, and Mo Bai asked about making a wish.

• Mo Bai answered that he himself came first in his heart, and the Goddess declared his answer correct.
• Mo Bai identified summoning Mahoraga as his most revealing selfish act, and the Goddess pointed out that he had hidden its abilities from Rover and Aemeath.
• Mo Bai acknowledged that taking everything on himself had been arrogant and said he needed to focus on the present and future.
• The Goddess touched Mo Bai's fist and gave him the power needed to use the sword when he returned.

The Tunneler defeated Aleph-1’s mecha but held off on expelling Aleph-1 while Rover and Aemeath waited for Mo Bai, whose return restored everyone’s memories of him. Inside Chimera Shadow Garden, Mo Bai confronted Mahoraga and ended their thousand-year estrangement with a sword strike aimed at Mahoraga and Aleph-1’s space.

• The Tunneler, aided by Rover and Aemeath, destroyed Aleph-1’s mecha and prepared to drive Aleph-1 away, but waited for Mo Bai to return.
• The Tunneler promised to defend Solaris, and a burst of light restored its memories of Mo Bai’s first arrival over a thousand years earlier.
• Rover, Aemeath, Losera, Feixue, and others also remembered Mo Bai as he emerged inside Chimera Shadow Garden.

• Mo Bai admired the lifelike simulation beneath Lahai Luo while sitting on the hill where he had first met Rover and Lynae.
• Mo Bai explained that his slash had destroyed Aleph-1’s true body, eliminated Mahoraga, and restored his presence and memories in the world.
• The Tunneler remained beyond the Tunneler Gate to guard against further invasions and search for clues about Rover’s homeland, choosing Lahai Luo as its true name.
• Rover and Aemeath returned to Solaris with Mo Bai, reported the outcome to Losera, and Mo Bai used Limitless to go to the hill alone.

• The narrator reflected on how the Tunneler Swarm Creatures seemed alive despite being pieces of the Tunneler, while a woman insisted that Lahai Luo’s sky and its life were false.
• Mo Bai left Lynae after their morning of racing because Principal Losera had called him in to handle something urgent.
• Mo Bai found Mo Hei waiting in Losera’s office, where Mo Hei sulked because Mo Bai would no longer let him sleep in his shadow and the Academy would not allow them to share a dorm room.
• Losera showed Mo Bai and Mo Hei a presentation about Dania and explained that she had been well-behaved in confinement.
• Mo Bai guessed that Losera wanted them to do something for the depressed Dania, but she had not yet explained the assignment.

Mo Bai and Mo Hei visited Dania at Losera’s request, despite the factions seeking to control her as a possible Threnodian Resonator. Mo Bai reassured Dania that Mo Hei’s friendship with her had been genuine, and she agreed.

• Losera asked Mo Bai and Mo Hei to comfort Dania because Rover and the others were unavailable.
• Mo Bai and Mo Hei learned that Academy officials and outside factions viewed Dania as valuable because they suspected she was Aleph-1’s Resonator.
