"I know. Supreme and supremely evil." Selûne nodded slightly. The oldest goddess wore her soft, motherly smile throughout. "Do you know why I favor you so much? Do you think it is simply because the Sallyan family has worshipped me as its patron goddess for generations?"
"My lady?" Aaron was puzzled, but he waited quietly for Mama Selûne to continue.
"That is only one reason. Besides your extraordinary charisma and your Salian surname, I can sense that the divine power attached to you is actually very similar to mine." Selûne lifted her teacup, and the Lady of Silver smiled with graceful poise. "Both contain the truths of the universe's origin and the return of all things. That is why I have always regarded you as my child."
The source of Aaron's power was very close to the source of Selûne's own. That was where the oldest goddess's affection for him came from.
