The Nether Scrolls were one hundred golden scrolls that the Netherese had discovered in the ruins of Aryvandaar, an Elven Empire. These scrolls had transformed Netheril from a tribal nation of seven small fishing villages into a magical empire with a measure of influence in the multiverse.

Setting aside this familiar history, Lady Mysty revealed some genuine secrets about the Nether Scrolls.

"As you discovered in the ruins of the Serpentfolk Empire, the Nether Scrolls were actually made by the Sarrukh." Mysty was almost indescribably excited to share secrets, and she slowly recounted the story of the Nether Scrolls.

According to Lady Mysty, after the Sarrukh founded their empire and became a civilization that dominated the continent of the Realms, they naturally began to make contact with civilizations in other crystal spheres.

Among them was a civilization called the Spellweavers, which went to war with the Sarrukh. It, too, was a cosmic-scale magical civilization. At last, the Sarrukh began to take other cosmic civilizations seriously. They discovered that even the knowledge the World Serpent had taught them was not invincible, and that other civilizations had things worth learning.

Thus, the Sarrukh established an organization to collect and study the magic of other races, recording the magical knowledge they gathered, along with their understanding of it, on the World Serpent's golden skin.

These became the Nether Scrolls.
