Kelemvor, who had spent ten years imprisoned by Mask, still retained his warm heart. Clearly, he had yet to grow accustomed to being a deity. The two of them climbed onto the Diamond Wall and looked down at the thousands upon thousands of souls in the Underworld bowing and scraping before their new master.

Aaron was astonished by the sheer power the Underworld possessed. Clearly, Cyric's madness had left most of its souls unwilling to fight for him. Otherwise, the army of 180,000 Chaos troops Aaron had summoned could never have breached the walls so quickly.

"For the past ten years, Mask kept me trapped inside Godsbane," Kelemvor told Aaron. "Whatever your motives, the fact remains that you saved me. I owe you my thanks."

"I'm not the one you should thank."

Aaron turned his gaze toward Jergal, who stood behind Kelemvor looking like a humble, harmless servant. "He is."

Kelemvor's pupils contracted slightly, and the new God of Death immediately turned around.

All he saw was Jergal bowing obsequiously, humility written across his face. "The Underworld chose your noble self, Your Majesty Kelemvor. We humble servants are merely stars revolving around the sun."

"I know less than anyone about how to be a deity," Kelemvor said, somewhat dejected. "I very much need your help, Jergal. I hope we can maintain a harmonious relationship."

"As you wish, my liege." Jergal remained bowed, displaying a cold obedience. "We have new guests."

"Shall I attend to them, my lord?"

"Attend to what?"

"Visitors from the Pantheon," Jergal replied calmly. "Would you like me to open the gates for the gods?"

Kelemvor nodded. The mysterious steward vanished, then reappeared before the enormous gates of the City of Strife a moment later.
