On the second day of the Spring of Suzail, Aaron formally entered the palace for a royal audience.
The Cormyrians did not really know what had happened the previous night. Suzail's residents knew only that an exceptionally strict curfew had been imposed and large numbers of troops had moved through the city. Because the curfew had been enforced so rigorously, the citizens staying in their homes had no idea they might have faced a special military operation bordering on civil war.
Only a handful of residents who had caught wind of something, along with some higher-status Suzail locals, watched in confusion as the Shogunate's troops and Suzail's forces marched back and forth. The Shogunate army surrounded the Royal Palace and the Purple Dragons' headquarters, while the Purple Dragon Knights surrounded the Three Crowns District in turn. The two sides confronted each other for a time, until a Cabinet envoy and a representative of the Shogunate army arrived at their respective front lines, after which both sides withdrew.
What exactly had happened?
No one knew, so everyone turned their attention to the following day's ceremony.
Sure enough, when Aaron entered the palace for his audience the next day, the person he met was not Princess Regent Alusair, but Azoun IV's queen, Filfaeril. The late king's widow had not appeared before the people of Cormyr for many, many years. Her appearance sent all of Suzail into joyous celebration. People cheered the glorious royal authority of Obarskyr, celebrating the seamless transition from the late king's golden age to that of the current Princess Regent. They celebrated Cormyr's absolute supremacy from Dragonmere in the south to the Moonsea in the north, the great victory at Teshwave, and the Salian Shogunate's mighty achievements.
The Obarskyr Royal House formally announced Aaron's investiture as Protector of Cormyr,
