After successfully capturing Zariel, Aaron's journey to godhood officially came to an end. By the time the Cormyrians returned to Realmspace, they discovered that it was already the autumn of 1369.
Alusair disbanded Cormyr's army. Half the spoils went to the treasury, while the other half belonged to the soldiers who had captured them. With the army dismissed, the soldiers returned home laden with riches, telling their families and friends how they had fought through the Underdark, the Abyss, and the Chaos Refuge beyond the crystal sphere, and witnessed Aaron's ascension.
Quite a few things had happened during that time.
First, with the conclusion of their long history, the Drow finally fractured. Roughly forty to fifty percent voluntarily transformed into "gray elves," returning to Arvandor's embrace and, under Corellon's supervision, gaining acceptance among the elven gods once more. The remaining Drow insisted on following their mistress, Spider Queen Lolth. Corellon expressed his understanding of their choice as well.
The Dark Maiden Eilistraee officially ascended to intermediate deity status. With Corellon and Aaron's support, she also received the [Assassination], [Gray Elves], and [Underdark] portfolios. By all rights, Eilistraee should have been the biggest winner of all.
Yet after becoming an intermediate deity, the Dark Maiden unexpectedly disappeared. She neither answered prayers nor granted divine magic, remaining utterly silent. Only a handful of clerics praying to Eilistraee at midnight could hear faint sounds of weeping.
During this time, Aaron, the Lord of Reincarnation, answered Eilistraee's prayers on her behalf. With the approval of Corellon, the elven God-King, he took full responsibility for all gray elf affairs. At Corellon's request, the living were called back into service, the dead were honored and their families compensated, and prisoners were released and reinstated first.
