If any readers still remembered, Aaron had once mentioned the World Tree while traveling along the Infinite Staircase to the Abyss.
The World Tree was considered the entity that supported the Multiverse. It connected more than twelve planes and countless celestial realms from top to bottom, and the Infinite Staircase was a pathway built upon it.
The gods most famously associated with the World Tree were Asgard's Norse Pantheon. The God-King Odin had once made intimate contact with the World Tree, hanging himself from it to contemplate his divine existence and stabbing himself with the divine spear Gungnir. He had then comprehended "Runes" and created the Norse Pantheon.
Unlike other pantheons, however, the Norse Pantheon had a powerful tendency toward self-destruction. Having glimpsed the truth of the world, Odin had prophesied that when the evil dragon Nidhogg gnawed through the World Tree's roots, the twilight of the gods would arrive.
Aaron remembered that the World Tree was an ash tree. He toyed with its oak seed and looked uncertainly at Silvanus. "Are you sure you want to give this to me?"
"This is the conclusion Tyr and I reached after discussing the matter." Silvanus stood with his hands behind his back, the Father of Oaks facing away from Aaron. "Unless I am mistaken, you and the Chaos Gods will eventually fight?"
Aaron answered solemnly, "Yes, and very soon. I will soon transfer the authorities they bestowed upon me to my four subordinate goddesses. When I elevate each of them to a quasi-deity, the Chaos Gods' emissary will undoubtedly arrive at the head of an army unlike any seen before."
"The Chaos Warmaster Abaddon?" Silvanus shuddered. The Father of Oaks looked at Eldath, the Goddess of Springs, lying on the ground.
"I could take ten of the likes of Abaddon." Aaron
