Aaron got it wrong the moment he opened his mouth.
Aaron's identity in Cormyr was Viscount Salian. By convention, knights, barons, and viscounts were all supposed to refer to themselves as "your faithful servant." Only earls and dukes could call themselves "your subject."
Of course, as time passed, landed barons had also gained the right to call themselves "your subject," but that privilege was limited to landed nobles.
Aaron's viscountcy, however, came with no actual fief. It was improper for him to address himself that way.
That was the first irregularity.
The second was that Alusair was not actually Cormyr's monarch. She was merely exercising the authority of a regent. Strictly speaking, she and Aaron were only superior and subordinate, yet Aaron had greeted the Princess Regent with the etiquette a vassal owed his sovereign.

There cannot be two suns in the sky. My beloved Highness Alusair, you are the only sun in Aaron Salian's heart!
Such was the subtlety of the unspoken language between nobles.
Sure enough, despite Aaron being only an ordinary Purple Dragon Knight, despite his being a viscount without a fief, despite his value still lying largely in his future potential, those words filled Alusair's heart with profound satisfaction.
Beloved... Highness. Your subject... Aaron Salian.
Your subject... Aaron Salian.
Alusair silently repeated those words twice. The golden-haired, red-eyed beauty on the throne quickly
