Loki lay sprawled at the bottom of the crater, his head buzzing.
Why had all his spells failed?
It made no sense!
How could Asgard's highest-level mystic arts be so easily cut off by a mortal?
Could Earth be hiding an existence as terrifying as All-Father Odin?
He couldn't make sense of it no matter how hard he tried.
However, the Avengers had no time to care about the psychological trauma of a defeated enemy.
"Thor, put him in cuffs. Natasha, take the scepter and shut down the gate!" Steve ordered decisively.
Thor nodded, pulled out a pair of specially made Divine Realm handcuffs, and locked Loki's hands with a click.
Loki's eyes were vacant, and he offered no resistance.
After giving out his orders, everyone turned and stepped out of the building.
The moment their heads emerged.
Everyone cursed in unison.
"Fuck!"
The Spatial Rift overhead was spewing out a flood of Chitauri troops.
Densely packed aircraft and more than a dozen Leviathans guarded the entrance to the passage like an iron barrel.
The device was clearly only one floor above them.
Yet it was as impassable as a natural chasm!
"Captain, how do we fight this?" Everyone's faces turned pale.
After one bloody battle after another, they had long since exhausted their stamina, and Tony's armor was nearly out of ammunition.
Trying to force their way through an alien fleet with a handful of battered survivors would be nothing short of suicide.
Steve swept his gaze around, his eyes resolute. "No matter how difficult it is, we have to push forward. This is our responsibility."
"Fine. Let's get to work." Tony pursed his lips.
Thor tightened his grip on his hammer, ready to fight to the death.
Just as everyone prepared to die.
A sudden change occurred!
High in the sky, a golden ring vast enough to blot out the heavens suddenly unfurled.
Half of the Chitauri forces circling nearby were instantly swallowed whole, without leaving so much as a scrap behind.
The Avengers stared in stunned silence.
"What happened?" Barton asked blankly.
"Is it a miracle..." Natasha murmured.
"Don't guess wildly, ma'am. It's magic."
A gentle voice drifted over.
Raine strode out of a golden Portal with several Masters.
"It's you!" Steve exclaimed in delight.
"We can catch up later." Raine waved his hand. "Ms. Natasha, take Barton and shut down the gate. Leave the remaining rabble to us."
For no apparent reason, Natasha suddenly felt reassured. She nodded firmly.
Raine smiled at them, then turned and led the group into the air.
Kamar-Taj's upper echelon possessed terrifying combat strength.
With several Masters unleashing their full firepower, they absolutely wouldn't lose to Hulk in a one-on-one fight.
One hand raised a Magic Shield while the other swung a blade of light. They charged into the horde, cutting through it as easily as slicing vegetables.
Seeing this, the Avengers hurriedly gritted their teeth and followed.
On the chaotic battlefield, Raine's performance was practically monstrous.
He strolled through the air as though walking in a courtyard, while several dazzling golden lines tore through the air around him.
Wherever the light passed, dozens or even hundreds of Chitauri soldiers were severed at the waist.
A rain of blood mixed with severed limbs and broken bodies pelted the ground.
"Ding!"
"Vishanti Chains killed a massive number of enemies!" "Skill proficiency skyrocketing!" "Rings of Raggadorr is enduring fierce artillery fire!" "Defense power strengthened again!"
The Electronic Voice kept flooding his mind.
Raine paid it no attention and continued mowing down the enemies without mercy.
By the end, even the Masters and the Avengers had stopped fighting.
Everyone halted in unison, gazing up at Raine, who was displaying divine might in the sky as though he were a god.
Gulp.
Tony struggled to swallow, then turned to Fatty Wong beside him.
"What line of work are you people in? How is every single one of you this fierce?"
The Masters exchanged glances, cursing inwardly.
Fierce my ass!
This guy was a complete freak! He was one of a kind even in Kamar-Taj, all right?
Their own jaws were practically dropping to the floor in shock.
But to preserve their organization's dignity, Wang forced his face into a solemn expression and put on the air of an unfathomable master.
"Don't make such a fuss. On our turf, Raine is merely an apprentice."
"Gasp—"
Tony sucked in a sharp breath right there.
An apprentice was already this terrifying?
Wouldn't a full-fledged member be capable of blowing up the universe?
Thor felt a chill rising from the depths of his heart.
Earth was actually hiding a top-tier force even more terrifying than Asgard!
Everyone stared at one another, and the atmosphere froze.
Raine couldn't be bothered with the Avengers, who were overwhelmed by shock. He directly issued an order. "Don't just stand there. Get ready to shut down the gate."
"Wait!" Tony suddenly interrupted in alarm. His faceplate sprang open, and his face instantly went deathly pale.
"What happened?" Steve hurriedly asked.
"Command launched a nuclear weapon." Tony clenched his teeth and forced out the words.
"What!"
Everyone sucked in a cold breath.
Steve was furious. "Have the people in charge gone insane? There are millions of civilians throughout the entire city below us!"
Raine's expression remained calm, and his tone was flat. "Arguing now is meaningless. Leave the problem to me."
"Follow my command and cut off the passage on time."
Tony's eyes widened in disbelief. "You can even handle a nuke?"
Wong replied solemnly from the side, "Since Raine has said it, he will definitely do it."
Before he had even finished speaking, Raine suddenly pulled both hands apart and soared into the Space Portal.
His formidable mental power spread instantly, directly enveloping half the city.
"Got you."
Raine tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"Chitauri trash, here's a little warmth for you."
His hands rapidly formed seals, and he boldly drew a huge golden ring in midair.
High in the distant sky.
A deadly nuclear missile trailing flames came roaring over and plunged headfirst into the golden passage.
The other end of the passage locked directly onto the depths of the blue wormhole in outer space!
Boom—!
A blinding white light erupted violently in the cosmos. Through the Spatial Rift, the entire night sky over New York was instantly illuminated in stark white.
"Shut it down!" Steve seized the opportunity and shouted the order.
The device cut off. The blue pillar of light instantly collapsed.
The sky returned to peace.
The battle was over.
Kamar-Taj was packed with wounded recovering from their injuries, and voices rang out everywhere.
Raine no longer even dared to leave his room.
The moment he showed his face, he would immediately be surrounded by layer upon layer of people until he couldn't move.
To go to the Library and look through some materials, he even had to travel secretly through the Mirror Dimension.
The moment he left the cafeteria, he ran into several groups.
"Master Raine! How about a drink tonight?"
"Master! There's a Spell research seminar the day after tomorrow. Please honor us with a few words!"
"How exactly do you cultivate? Please enlighten me!"
The corner of Raine's mouth twitched furiously, and he could only maintain a professional fake smile the entire time.
After smiling for two straight days, the muscles in his face had completely stiffened.
Whispers continued to drift over from all around him.
"See that? That's Master Raine!"
"I heard that on the front line, he casually waved his hand and instantly wiped out tens of thousands of alien ships!"
"That's nothing. I heard from an insider that he created a cosmic forbidden Spell!"
"Wrong! He's clearly the only heir secretly trained by the Sorcerer Supreme!"
Raine's hearing was far beyond that of an ordinary person, and he heard every ridiculous rumor around him clearly.
The rumors were growing more and more outrageous. In another two days, he would probably be ruling the entire universe.
After dealing with people all the way there, Raine felt that his neck hurt even more than it did after fighting Chitauri for a whole day.
Being too famous was a sin, too.
He only wanted to quietly lie low as a Sorcerer and develop his strength. Why was that so difficult?
Several apprentices with gleaming eyes approached him again.
Raine completely broke down. He drew a circle in the air with both hands and decisively dove into the Mirror Dimension to seek refuge.
The world instantly fell silent, and his mood finally improved somewhat.
"Ding!"
"Vishanti's Holy Sword is bathing in an immense amount of worship and is extremely excited!" "Skill proficiency rising wildly!" "Power has received a permanent increase!"
"Ding!"
"Scarlet Contract Chains greatly dislikes being watched and is in a foul mood!" "Cultivation efficiency has dropped drastically!"
Raine helplessly rubbed his forehead.
His skills had too much personality. They were truly giving him a headache. If things went badly, they might even slow down his cultivation progress.
Shaking his head, he opened a door and arrived outside Mordo's room.
He raised his hand and knocked.
The wooden door opened. Mordo looked stunned. "Raine? Do you need something?"
"Master, I want to continue learning magic." Raine's attitude was respectful.
The expression on Mordo's face instantly froze.
Learn magic?
You single-handedly smashed an entire alien fleet, and now you're coming to me to learn magic?
What am I supposed to teach you?
How to dismantle a battleship with your bare hands?
Mordo cursed furiously inside, but forced himself to invite Raine into the room.
"Master, I'm serious." Raine's face was full of sincerity.
He genuinely felt that he didn't have enough trump cards. His combat methods were far too limited.
He knew none of the techniques he needed—illusions, Mind Stone manipulation, or large-scale destructive Spells.
The Marvel Universe was crawling with monsters. Unless he learned a few more self-defense techniques, he couldn't help feeling uneasy.
