Blood Bat Demon dragged Gu Chenshan and the others through the front courtyard, around the rockery, and into a side hall in the rear courtyard.

The side hall's doors stood open, revealing piles of gold, silver, and jewels.

Silver ingots were stacked into a small mountain, copper coins lay scattered across the floor, and jewelry piled in the corners glittered with multicolored light beneath the candles.

Golden Toad Demon sprawled atop the silver, its massive body like a small mountain.

Its eyes were closed as it chewed silver ingots and jewels, occasionally spilling fragments with a crunching sound.

Blood Bat Demon tossed Gu Chenshan and the others onto the floor, then made its way into another side room with practiced ease. It tore an arm bone from one of the imprisoned servants and sucked the bloody juices from it, a look of pleasure spreading across its face.

It stopped before Golden Toad Demon. Seeing the other demon lazily sleeping on a pile of gold, it could not help bristling with anger.

"Ape Lord is waiting for people at the City Lord's Residence, and here you are, sleeping all day."

Golden Toad Demon rolled over, its fat pressing several dents into the silver ingots. It opened its bulging eyes to stare at Blood Bat Demon, its mouth twisting into something between a smile and a sneer.
