"Luo Shen! What are you doing here?"

General Luo hurried over, angry and anxious, and scooped up the little girl.

She was only four or five, with two crooked little pigtails. She wasn't afraid of being lifted by her grandfather. Instead, she pointed a tiny finger at Love and cried in a babyish voice:

"Fairy lady! I saw you outside the window! You were pink!"

"What fairy lady..."

General Luo kept a stern face, but his voice wasn't stern at all.

Their conversation that day ended without a decision.

General Luo hadn't agreed to the proposal for emotional guidance right away. Tens of millions of people were packed into the city, and any mishap could have catastrophic consequences. He didn't dare give his approval.

Love didn't press him.

Before leaving, though, she reminded General Luo to keep a close watch on the city. She also made it clear that if a Fallen Beast appeared, they would move immediately.

General Luo had no objection to that.

For one thing, he still needed to verify Love's claim that Fallen Beasts were born from emotions.

For another, if Love intervened when one appeared, fewer of his soldiers would die, and it would be easier to keep the city's residents calm.

The following week proved every word Love had said.

The first Fallen Beast appeared in a refugee camp in the north of the city.
