Background and History

As a child, Li Qi told her mother she wanted to become a knight and protect her forever. She later took Knight as her magical-girl title. At eighteen, she was also a senior in school, where she kept her magical-girl identity separate from her life as Li Qi 11 14.

Knight became Our City's sole resident magical girl during a comparatively peaceful period. After training in a neighboring province, she returned to find Fallen Beast incidents increasing. She had spent nearly a year at Firefly Rank and sought out the much stronger Love, hoping both to strengthen the city's defenses and to see what greater power looked like 6 10.

Her mother's critical illness exposed a limit she could not overcome with a sword. Love's intervention helped her mother recover and prompted Knight to make more room in her life for being a daughter, not only a protector 11 12 13 102.

Knight is disciplined and conscientious, but long treated every setback as proof that she was not strong enough. She trained for six hours after being overwhelmed by two Fallen Beasts, despite having kept civilians safe. Her mother's illness intensified that sense of failure because it was something her combat strength could not solve 11 16.

Support from her mother, Love, and the people she protects gradually helps her accept that her worth is not measured only by victories. She remains ambitious: at Headquarters, she commits to punishing specialized training even after it leaves her barely able to move 18 26 119.
