"What are you so excited about?"

Kuta watched Carteles's excitement practically spill out of him, a strange expression crossing his face.

"N-nothing!"

Carteles instantly suppressed his unnecessary emotions. Looking up at Kuta, he smiled. "Have you made up your mind?"

"Made up my mind?"

Rubbing his chin, Kuta looked thoughtful.

Watching Kuta, Carteles tried to act indifferent, but the slight, involuntary forward lean of his body betrayed him.

"Mm!"

"I've decided."

Kuta did not keep Carteles waiting long before making his decision.

"Well?"

"Of course..."

Kuta gave Carteles a long look. Then his left hand swept across his waist and lifted the Wine Gourd. He tilted his head back and took a long drink before looking down at Carteles, his serious tone tinged with cold arrogance. "You come and go as you please. What do you take me for?"

"So I've decided! It's better to kill you right here."

"Kill me?"

Carteles's anticipation plummeted. Thick black smoke abruptly rose from his body, and he suddenly looked like a demon, radiating a savage aura.

"You ungrateful brat. Do you really think... you've got me beat?"

"Hm?"

Kuta paused mid-drink, as though something had occurred to him. His grin grew wider and wider until he burst out laughing.

"Ha ha ha ha ha!"

His laughter stopped abruptly. Looking down at Carteles, Kuta spoke with utter mockery and arrogance. "Who do you think you are? You're finished today. Even Jesus couldn't save you. You have my word."
