Everyone suddenly turned to Nami with puzzled looks.
Nami was laughing so hard that tears had gathered in the corners of her eyes.
Once she finally got herself under control, she said, "Everything above us is safe. Keep rising!"
"Everything above us is safe?" Honey Queen asked, confused.
"But Nami, we can't even see the sun. It's pitch-black up there."
"Are you sure the surface is safe?"
Honey Queen was clearly still shaken.
Nami smiled helplessly and shook her head. "There really are storm clouds overhead. It certainly looks like a thunderstorm!"
"But have you ever heard the saying, 'All thunder and no rain'?"
Nami had spent a long time studying the sky through her telescope. It was true that storm clouds filled it.
Normally, though, once storm clouds gathered to that extent, strong winds and rain would follow.
What Nami had seen instead was a calm sea, made to look a little gloomy by the clouds above.
So Nami was certain there was no danger waiting for them up there!
"Those thunderclouds are probably just one of the New World's strange weather patterns. There's no need to worry too much!"
"If I'm right, we'll reach the surface in about ten minutes. By then..."
"The sky will be perfectly clear!"
"Besides, Baccarat's aboard. How could we be unlucky enough to run into a thunderstorm?"
Hearing Nami make such a confident promise, everyone let out a long breath.
They trusted her expertise completely.
Pato, who had been playing by the side of the ship, took a deep breath. "Good thing we're safe!"
"If Nami says so, there's nothing to worry about!"
None of the commotion outside caught Chris's attention.
He kept training diligently in the Training Room.
If the others couldn't handle something like this, they had no business going to
