Background and history

In his previous life, Chris wrote One Piece fan fiction. He awoke on an island at age five, found and ate the Repel-Repel Fruit, and spent fourteen years training. In 1519, he destroyed the island with Shinra Tensei and left to make his name at sea 1.

Chris sought out Baccarat for her luck-related power. She recognized him as the captain she had been waiting for, and he began building the Chris Pirates. He established strength as the basis of rank, demonstrated Haki to recruit Burgess and Doc Q, and continued seeking capable members 1 2 4 10 28.

His stated goal is to overthrow the Celestial Dragons and create a world where people are free. To build the power needed, he plans to defeat Crocodile and become a Shichibukai, establish a New World base, and expand the Seven Warlords Alliance. He also secures cooperation from Momousagi within the Marines and from the Vinsmoke Family 4 8 22 24.

When Doflamingo pursued Trafalgar Law, Chris offered Law protection in exchange for joining the crew. Chris withstood Doflamingo’s awakened attacks, and Doflamingo withdrew while agreeing to a future alliance. Later, Chris rescued Boa Hancock from Gamenio, took the Copy-Copy Fruit power from him, and became able to use a second Devil Fruit 14 17 18 43 44.

Chris is tall and strikingly handsome, usually seen in black clothing. His expression is typically calm and composed 1 3 22.

He prizes strength but does not rely on it alone. His plans involve recruiting allies, cultivating support inside the Marines, and using political and commercial partnerships. His leadership can be severe: he permits challenges for crew rank but warns members against seriously harming one another 8 10 22.
