History

Formation and expansion

• Chris established the crew’s rule, “Let your strength speak”: members could challenge for the captaincy or, as the crew grew, for division-command positions. He designed its flag and set sail with early recruits including Burgess and Doc Q 2.
• Belo Betty joined after Chris told her he intended to overthrow the Celestial Dragons and build a world where everyone could be free 4.
• The crew expanded across the seas, taking in fighters including Trafalgar Law, Gin, Cavendish, Van Augur, and Enel. At Challenge Town, it recruited Morley, Lindbergh, and Crow after seeing them fight 13 37 230 301.
• Its rapid growth drew Marine attention. Chris received his first bounty of 100 million Beli; the Marines cited the crew’s dangerous members while noting its limited activity and lack of known civilian casualties at the time 46.

Alliances and the New World

• Chris initiated the Seven Warlords Alliance, a group distinct from the World Government’s Shichibukai organization. Marine leaders later identified its independence from Government command as a concern 236 339.
• The Revolutionary Army formally became the crew’s partner in pursuit of their shared goal of overthrowing the Celestial Dragons. Their cooperation was kept secret during later political planning 320 361.
• The crew developed ties with Alabasta and Fish-Man Island; Marine intelligence also linked it to Elbaf and Germa 66 332 339.
• Chris targeted the independent Pudora Kingdom as a New World base. Before the invasion, the crew used a clash with the Shield Guild for combat experience and recruited three more fighters at Challenge Town 281 284 289 301.

Conquest of Pudora Kingdom

• At Pudora Kingdom Port, Bartolomeo’s barrier and Kuro’s pressure abilities protected the ship from heavy artillery. Chris then sent his forces against the garrison, treating the battle as both an assault and a test of their strength 519 537.
• The pirates defeated Pudora’s forces and hired captains while keeping losses among their principal commanders low. Isaac and Hu Ci submitted to Chris and helped clear the route to the Royal City 662 677 691.
• Caribou opened the Royal City’s gates. Chris entered, confronted King Yuriton, and declared that he would take control of the kingdom. Following Yuriton’s death, the Marines regarded Pudora as effectively fallen under Chris’s influence 683 691.
• After the battle, Ochoku and Violent Tiger Boris joined the Chris Pirates 706.

Organization

• Captaincy and rank — Strength determines standing. A member may challenge even Chris’s position, though crewmates consider defeating him virtually impossible 2 29 301.
• First Mate — Lafitte holds the title; other members openly seek to take it from him 37 519 520.
• Division Commanders and Squads — Commanders compete for rank and recruit members into their own Squads. Chris left Apoo’s arriving followers to the commanders to assign 382 519.
• Rank-and-file advancement — Before the Pudora port battle, Chris offered an ordinary pirate a commander’s position for killing more enemies than that commander. More than a thousand members of the nearly five-thousand-strong crew joined the attack 538.
• Training — Commanders train their stamina, Haki, physical techniques, and Devil Fruit abilities rather than relying on a single power. Chris also uses dangerous fights to expose weaknesses and build experience 197 281 506.

Combat Capabilities

• Devil Fruit users — Marine intelligence describes nearly all Division Commanders as Devil Fruit users. Their varied powers include Van Augur’s warping, Cavendish’s speed, Burgess’s sound-wave attacks, and Doc Q’s miasma 230.
• Haki and physical combat — Several commanders have mastered two kinds of Haki. The crew places particular emphasis on developing Haki and physical ability alongside Devil Fruit powers 197 230.
• Ship defense — Bartolomeo can block artillery with barriers, while Kuro can absorb and disperse blast shock waves. Together they brought the Chris through Pudora’s bombardment unharmed, though the effort exhausted Kuro 519.

Ship and Flag

• The Chris — The crew’s ship, equipped with cannons used during the Pudora campaign 4 497.
• Pirate flag — A white skull above crossed swords, with “Power” on one hilt and “Wealth” on the other; Chris designed it himself 2.

Relationships

• Seven Warlords Alliance — Chris founded this independent alliance of Warlords, whose members assembled in support of his Pudora campaign 236 460 479.
• Revolutionary Army — Formal partner against the Celestial Dragons; Koala was appointed liaison 320.
• Pudora Kingdom — Target of the crew’s New World campaign and later brought under Chris’s control 289 683 691.
• Marines and World Government — Initially recognized Chris as a Shichibukai, but grew alarmed by the crew’s strength, alliances, and independence. Marine forces ultimately avoided attacking the intact crew after Pudora fell 153 339 691.
• Red Hair and Whitebeard Pirates — Both observed the Pudora conflict; members of each discussed helping the Chris Pirates if other powers attacked them 472 476.
