Grant had sensed the incoming bullet and even judged where it would strike.
That alone proved the deputy commander had an unusual gift for it.
Van Augur raised an eyebrow. "So these two officers aren't all show. They've got some real skill."
"Who'd have thought someone here could predict my bullet? Now that's a surprise."
Deputy Commander Grant had genuinely impressed him.
Van Augur shook his head slightly and murmured, "If that shot didn't kill you, then I'm not the one meant to take your life."
"It's all fate."
"So I won't target you again."
"As for whose hands you'll die by, that's up to fate."
With his shot failing to kill Commander-in-Chief Leweir, Van Augur immediately gave up on him.
Unlike many snipers, Van Augur fired only one shot at each person he meant to kill.
If they survived that shot, he took it as a sign that their time had not come.
