A squad captain rushed to Leweir's side and caught him.
"General Leweir, how are you?"
Commander-in-Chief Leweir coughed twice. His face was pale, and all color had drained from his lips.
He shook his head faintly. "I'm done for..."
"Tell every soldier not to give up our position!"
"Even if we fight until the last man falls, hold out until reinforcements arrive."
"That is my final order!"
Even on the brink of death, Commander-in-Chief Leweir still wanted to fight the Chris Pirates to the bitter end.
He knew full well that the Pudora Kingdom had no way back from this battle.
Only if every soldier of the Pudora Kingdom fought the Chris Pirates ready to die
would the Pudora Kingdom have any hope of survival.
Leweir suddenly broke into a violent cough and spat blood.
He reached out and gripped the squad captain's arm.
Clenching his teeth, Leweir said with a fierce gaze, "Pass on my order!"
"No one is to flee the battlefield!"
"Don't disgrace me!"
With that, Leweir reached the end of his life. He spat one last mouthful of blood and died.
Now both Commander-in-Chief Leweir and his deputy, Grant, had been killed by the Chris Pirates.
The soldiers standing nearby had all heard Leweir's final words.
Every one of them admired him.
Up in the air, Lafitte adjusted his hat and murmured, "He was a worthy general."
"Even in death, he never forgot to defend his country."
"An enemy worthy of respect!"
Though the two sides were enemies,
that was only because they stood on opposing sides.
It did not mean one side had better people than the other.
On the battlefield, each fought for their own cause.
Lafitte glanced at Cavendish. "We really should have spared him."
