Ashura Doji and Raizo both stared at Kozuki Oden in utter shock.

A samurai of Wano Country had actually refused someone's challenge?!

This was an indelible stain on his honor as a samurai!!

Even Shimotsuki Yasuie understood the gravity of what Kozuki Oden had just said and gave him a stern look.

"Give me a break, all of you." Kozuki Oden waved a hand nonchalantly and said in a bored tone, "Rather than thinking about how to accept someone's challenge, I'd rather think about what ingredients to put in today's lunch oden."

Just then, a noisy commotion came from the palace entrance.

Soon, a little boy in a pink kimono ran inside, his head shaved on top with only a topknot at the back.

"Momonosuke!"

Kozuki Oden greeted his son cheerfully.

Adrian narrowed his eyes, a kindly smile spreading across his lips.

He gave Shimotsuki Yasuie a questioning look. Catching his meaning, Yasuie immediately explained Momonosuke's identity in a low voice.

"So you're Kozuki Oden's son..."

Adrian gave a convincing sigh, fished a sapphire pendant glowing with a faint blue light out of his clothes, and tossed it toward Kozuki Oden.

"It's a shame your father turned down my challenge, but here's a little gift for you anyway."

Kozuki Oden deftly caught the sapphire pendant.

Instantly, a feeling of tranquil emptiness washed over him, sweeping every troubling concern from his mind.

Only after several seconds did Kozuki Oden shake off the sensation and look calmly at Adrian.

"What is this necklace?"

"A special necklace I created using my ability. It draws people into a calm, vacant state and clears away distracting thoughts they shouldn't have in the first place."
