After wandering the streets for quite a while, Shanks and Buggy found a tavern they liked called the Tailless Monkey.
It was a two-story wooden tavern. The engraved sign hanging outside looked a little weathered, and in its upper-right corner was a cartoon monkey with no tail and a head of short golden hair sticking straight up.
"This tavern has such a funny name!"
Shanks was about to hurry inside when he suddenly stopped.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
Puzzled, Buggy sent his head flying off with practiced ease until it hovered in front of Shanks.
"At a tavern this size, I could buy you drinks for three days and nights, no problem!"
"No, that's not it."
Shanks hunched his shoulders and shivered for no apparent reason.
Somewhere unseen, an icy gaze full of displeasure seemed to have settled on him.
"Then what is it?"
Buggy couldn't understand. His head spun several times in midair, but he spotted no person or creature that might have prompted Shanks's reaction.
"Don't tell me that old man Whitebeard came looking for you himself?"
Buggy chuckled at his own joke.
"Probably not..."
Shanks swallowed, glanced around, and tried to suppress the ominous feeling in his gut.
"I just feel like something's watching us... I've got a really bad feeling about it."
"Huh??"
Question marks practically appeared above Buggy's head before his expression turned impatient.
"Shanks, is there something wrong with your brain?
"We're just getting a drink. Why make such a fuss? Do you want one or not?!"
"Of course I do!"
Shanks shook his head and answered at once.
As a pitiful pirate captain whose everyday spending money was tightly restricted,
he rarely got a chance to have someone else pay for his drinks!
Shanks immediately pushed that inexplicable feeling of being watched out of
