Little Nami was a little frightened. In all her life, she had never seen Genzo look so serious.

Although she still did not quite agree with his overly grown-up reasoning, she nodded vaguely in the end.

She neither agreed nor disagreed.

As she bobbed her head, Nami glanced out the window of the police office and happened to see an adorable-looking ship approaching Cocoyasi Village. Its figurehead looked like a lifelike white nine-tailed fox.

"What a pretty ship..." little Nami murmured.

"What?" Genzo had not quite caught that.

"A ship!" Little Nami jumped off her chair and ran to the window. "An unfamiliar ship is coming to Cocoyasi Village!"

Genzo immediately looked outside.

The police office stood far from Cocoyasi Village, on elevated ground near the island's shore. Besides making it easy to watch over the whole island, its location allowed him to keep an eye on ships approaching through the surrounding waters.

When he spotted the enormous white sail hanging from the Fox Ship's mast, Genzo breathed a sigh of relief. But as his vigilance faded, curiosity rose in its place.

"It's not a pirate ship! Is it a merchant ship?"

The island where Cocoyasi Village stood was an utterly ordinary little island in the East Blue, and a very small one at that. The fact that its most famous resident had been "a mere field officer from an East Blue Branch" said it all.

Merchant ships did visit Cocoyasi Village, but they usually arrived on a fixed, predictable schedule.

The Fox Ship now docking at the harbor, however, was completely unfamiliar. Genzo could not even spot any recognizable East Blue Merchants' Guild insignia aboard it.
