Inside the Hokage Office.
Obito sat on the desk with an arm around Kakashi and said.
"You're so lazy, Kakashi. You've only been Hokage for a dozen-odd years, and you already want to quit."
Kakashi shoved Obito's arm away and snapped.
"Oh, please! What right do you have to criticize me?"
"If it weren't for you, would I be stuck here dealing with paperwork every day?!"
Obito waved his hands repeatedly and said sheepishly.
"Don't get mad. Come on, I was just saying."
"Besides, even without me, you'd still have been the Sixth."
"If it's meant to be yours, there's no escaping it."
After finally soothing his prickly friend.
Obito scratched his head and asked.
"So, if you step down, have you decided who'll inherit the Hokage position?"
Once they got down to business, Kakashi grew serious too.
"I settled on two candidates long ago: Itachi and Naruto. Both of them are capable of shouldering Konoha's future."
"Yeah, that's true."
Obito nodded slightly, agreeing with Kakashi.
"But Itachi spends every day traveling with Izumi and their child now, so you're planning to pass the Hokage position to Naruto, right?"
Kakashi nodded and looked Obito straight in the eye.
"That is what I'm thinking. Do you have any objections, Obito?"
Obito shrugged.
"I've watched Naruto grow up since he was little. What objections could I have?"
"Don't worry. The Uchiha Clan won't object either."
Kakashi inwardly breathed a sigh of relief and said.
"Then it's settled. Whew, I can finally retire..."
Had those leisurely days of spending time with Kokoro and Sonoko and reading whenever I felt like it finally arrived?!
Obito muttered under his breath.
