Obito smacked his forehead.
Man, what was I thinking?
Shikaba was so lazy. How could he possibly cook for himself?
"Then let's have canned food."
Shikaba nodded.
"Okay, wait here a minute."
With that,
he dashed back into his house.
Then he came out with two cans.
"Obito-kun, which one would you like?"
Obito looked at the two cans, whose packaging looked almost identical.
Curious, he asked,
"What's in those two cans?"
Shikaba explained,
"One is black pepper beef, and the other is also black pepper beef."
Obito said, "Uh... do you have any other flavors?"
"Yes. Hang on."
Shikaba went back inside again and came out carrying a cardboard box.
"I've also got beef and potatoes, tomato and egg, kung pao chicken..."
Whoa.
Quite a selection.
Obito asked, "Hmm, which one tastes better?"
Shikaba thought for a moment, then answered with complete sincerity.
"Honestly, none of them taste all that good."
Obito said, "???"
Are you trying to torment someone with decision paralysis?
After agonizing over it for a while, he picked a can of tomato and egg at random.
Shikaba opened a can of beef and potatoes.
The two sat in the little pavilion.
They chatted as they ate.
"Obito-kun, how does that canned tomato and egg taste?"
Obito smacked his lips, considered the flavor, and said,
"It's all right. Just tastes kind of like tomatoes."
They chatted about nothing in particular.
After finishing their meal,
they rubbed their bellies and lay in the little pavilion, gazing at the moon.
After a brief silence,
Shikaba suddenly spoke.
"Be careful lately... things haven't been too peaceful at the border."
Obito gave Shikaba a thoughtful look.
As a member of the Nara Clan, Shikaba probably knew plenty of inside information.
"You're the one who needs to be careful," Obito said
